Working to provide a comprehensive Information and Support Service to lone parents as part of the Programme Team

The Project Worker reports directly to the Programme Manager.

Main responsibilities and duties of the post include:

  • The provision of accurate information to lone parent’s callers in person/telephone or via social media.
  • Referring lone parents to appropriate statutory services and advocating with them on their behalf.
  • Ensuring appropriate records and statistics are kept up to date.
  • Inputting of service user information on to the database.
  • Working closely with the Programme Manager in identifying potential participants for group work programmes and working as part of a team in the planning, organising and evaluation of programmes.
  • Mentoring and assisting participants attending programmes where the need arises.
  • Organising once off events, in conjunction with other staff.
  • Networking and liaising with local community organisations and statutory agencies
  • I.T support and liaison with the company’s I.T support contractor.
  • Supporting administration in the Adult and Child Counselling services.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant 3rd level degree
  • A minimum of two years’ experience of working in a youth/community development setting
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and the issues arising for lone parents
  • Ability to engage and build positive relationships with parents and families
  • Experience of working with groups
  • Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing programmes
  • Strong IT skills, proficient in use of Microsoft office and database e.g. salesforce
  • The ability to maintain a professional approach and observe confidentiality at all time
  • Exceptional organisational and administration skills and attention to detail
  • Project prioritisation and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to engage with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations
  • Full clean driving licence and access to car

The salary is equivalent to point 3 on HSE Social Care Worker pay scale.

35 hour working week, annual leave 25 working days

Garda clearance is required for this post
