Job Title:Team LeaderMen in Sheds

Responsible to: Mental Health Services Manager

Responsible for:Men in Sheds Project

Hours:24.00 hours per week

Salary:£18,534 paid pro rata

Main purpose of job:

To lead and participate with the team responsible for developing and deliveringMen in Sheds (The Shed) day care services, promoting independence and facilitating social interaction for older men within a user led environment. The post holder will lead the team delivering a range of stimulating creative activities including woodworkin a social setting to clients whomay be older people with mobility and /or mental health problems.

Leadership & Functional Responsibilities

Lead the Men in Sheds support team, ensuring the efficient day to day leadership of the service.Proactively manage the development and performance of the teamensuring adherence to health and safety requirements HR policies and procedures.

Working in partnership with referring agencies and health and social care professionals ensure that the Men in Shedsservice continues to reflect service user need, by the use of up todate assessment documentation and care reviews and where appropriatedevelop and implement new and innovative service models

Lead on new initiatives which will attract income and secure long term financial viability for the service

Lead on initiating and supporting user and/or carer involvement in all aspects of the service and develop and support suitable facilities and activities commensurate with individual and group requirements.

Develop and maintainworking relationships with Adult Care Service teams, Primary Care Trust teams, families, carers and other relevant organisations in order to keep an adequate level of service user referral and engagement.Prepare and provide activity reports for contract and performance monitoring activities.

Ensure all duties are undertaken relevant to the well-being of users of the service, participating in activities in order to provide stimulation and support, taking part in reviews and always aiming to maximise independence, dignity and choice.

Within the post holders area of responsibility ensure compliance with ISO9001 & Investors In People standards and procedures. Support and develop staff and volunteers to ensure Charity Log and My HR systems are maintained and updated.

Proactively control the Men in Sheds’s devolved operating budget within the agreed expenditure limits, maximize income opportunities and ensure all financial and other records are accurate and maintained inaccordance with Data Protection and AUKT’s Finance policy and procedures.

Lead on Health and Safety compliance arrangements in accordance with the organisation’s Health and Safety Policy. Ensure all tasks are risk assessed and appropriate control measures identified and implemented.Act as first line of call for First Aid issues, undertaking appropriate training

At the request of the Chief Executive Office or deputy undertake other duties commensurate with the grade of the post which may be required

Meet regularly with the team and individuals to monitor progress and feedback on organisational, team and individual performance.

Proactively supervise team and individual performance in a robust and supportive way, giving constructive performance feedback ensuring the team and individuals achieve their full potential. Identify team and individual development / training needs and contribute to the development of the organisation’s annual training and development plan.

Develop constructive relationships with the organisation’s volunteers and offer support to enhance their contribution to the organisation.

Ensure colleagues and volunteers conduct themselves in line Age UK ‘s codes of behaviour, conduct and values. Taking, where appropriate,supportive remedial action when staff or volunteers fail to maintain Age UK standards.
