Job Description for EC Specialists

Specialists report to EC Director and Coordinator of Disability Services

Identification, Evaluation and Planning

·  Serve as liaison between school sites and the EC Office

·  Assist EC Teachers with classroom management, organization, lesson planning and instruction/curriculum as requested

·  Assist EC Teachers in preparation for meetings

·  Attend meetings upon request (i.e. formal and informal meetings with teachers, administrators and parents, IEP meetings as appropriate)

·  Attend EC Specialists, PLC, NC SIP and Collaborative Meetings (as appropriate)

·  Attend Data Days at schools

·  Attend Early Release Day Trainings

·  Monitor and coordinate oversight of timelines/processes to included referrals, eligibilities, reevaluations, addendums, annual reviews, and BIPs

·  Certification of accurate head count for April and December

·  Assist and train teachers to complete placement for all programs appropriately

·  Provide support with scheduling of students to ensure appropriate service delivery

·  Collect, disaggregate and graph district/state assessments to include but limited to EOG, EOC, benchmarks, baselines, AimsWeb

·  Assist in administration of district and state assessments to include Extend I

·  Drop Off and Pick Up district/state assessment materials as requested

·  Complete EC Group/Foster Home reporting to assigned person

·  Work closely and collaboratively with MTSS in buildings

·  Complete Trego scans as requested

·  Meet with administrators in buildings at least 2 x month

·  Assist with EOY Transition Meetings

·  Assist teachers in making materials for classrooms and students

·  Assist with retrieval of out of district paperwork needed for programming and meeting

·  Follow the EOY process to include but not limited to transporting folders, filing, hole punching etc

·  Transport folders to and from school when requested

·  Assist and participate in Planning Day responsibilities

·  Administer educational test, score and write narrative summary

Service Delivery

·  Provide direct services to students when necessary

Program Administration and Management

·  In collaboration with case manager and school administration, complete the DEC 3 worksheet, DEC 2 Communication Log, and Manifestation Determination paperwork

·  Maintain appropriate documentation using a weekly coaching log for compliance and curriculum support

·  Maintain EC Specialist Planning Calendar

·  Maintain good attendance

·  Maintain an up-to-date google calendar and share when requested

·  Sign in and out of each building upon entering and leaving

·  Maintain compliance review in EASY IEP

Professional Growth and Ethics

·  Maintain a professional conversation when attending events outside the school

·  Refrain from social media comments relating to schools, staff, departments

Professional Development

·  Participate in professional development opportunities specific to their area of responsibility and when deemed necessary for other areas

·  Assist with professional development opportunities to include presenting as requested

·  Attend district, local, state and regional meetings as requested

·  Attend trainings for Direct Instruction Programs as requested

·  Participate in Book Study

Collaboration/Communication/Coaching/Curriculum

·  Communicate effectively with stakeholders to include but not limited to: Administration, EC Teachers, Regular Education Teachers, Parents/ Guardians/ Custodians, Itinerate Staff, Students, Community Agency Representatives, others as deemed appropriate

·  Establish a positive working relationship with all of the above mentioned

·  Hold regular coaching meetings and monthly meeting with EC Teachers and administrators – Monthly agendas are created by Specialists

·  Coach, monitor and complete observations to ensure fidelity, according to NC SIP and local procedures for Reading Mastery, Corrective Reading, Trans-Math, Number Worlds and any other EC instructional program

·  Collaborate with building administrators, psychologists, related service staff, itinerate staff and others to ensure legally compliant, appropriate, and effective EC services are provided

·  Provide curriculum coaching/instruction based on Direct Instruction Trainings

·  Provide follow-up to corrective actions/audit results

·  Model lessons and classroom management strategies for teachers, teaching assistants and administrators

·  Provide direct consultation on instructional delivery and other needed support for district classrooms

·  Use a coaching model to ensure compliance with monitoring, policy, audit process and educator learning

·  Check post compliance reviews

Physical requirements – ability to travel between schools/sites served. Normal routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, climbing, hearing, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking, and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can not always be anticipated. Ability to lift and carry equipment, such as large test kits, up to 35 pounds. Ability to physically transport student folders between EC Office and schools.
