POSITION: Marketing/Communications Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION: Full Time. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, some holidays.
REPORTS TO:Vice President, Sales and Marketing

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Oxnard Convention & Visitor Bureau (OCVB) and California Welcome Center (CWC) is the regional destination marketing office and visitors center for the City of Oxnard and provides marketing services for Oxnard, California with collaborating regions of Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard Downtown, and The Collection Riverpark. The shared goal is to increase the number of overnight visitors and increased economic impact to promote the City of Oxnard as a major tourist destination.

TheMarketing/Communications Coordinator, reports directly to the OCVB Vice President/Sales & Marketing by support of planning, developing, and implementing sales, marketing, and communications projects to help carry out the work and mission of the OCVB and CWC. Responsible for support in developing and maintaining specified tourism marketing programs, conducting market research, and utilizing a competitive marketing strategy that provides good public image and promotes tourism assets, programs, events, group bookings, and tourism resources as established by the OCVB Vice President.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with performing all related promotional marketing, andadministrative duties associated with sales & marketing of the Oxnard CVB and CWC
  • Maintains administrative support to the VPof Sales & Marketingvia inquiries & correspondence
  • Assist with planninginitiatives andactions on marketing opportunities, and partner projects.
  • Assist VP with creative work on OCVB/CWC advertising submissions & campaigns
  • Manage and maintainsocial/digital media to remain current with website, Facebook, Instagram
  • Maintain database on tradeshows, conferences, meetings, or conventions managed by the VP.
  • Maintain/organizesales booking bids &inquiries by processing proposals and contractsinto database for distribution to; (city,county, BIDs, local attractions,and hotels).
  • In the absence of VP obtain preliminary information from the clients on RFPs specifications and submit proposals through customer relations management systems electronically.
  • Maintain and update monthly research/statsfor Sales & Marketing month-end reports
  • Coordinate VP/Sales schedules and/or travel itineraries, including exhibit venue andsite tours
  • Prepares business correspondence, including emails to distribute leads andinquiries to partners
  • Administer and assist with coordinationatsales and marketing relatedmeetings & events
  • Preparepre/post planning for assigned marketing committee/project work groups
  • Organize and prepare collateral products forsales, marketing,andmedia kits for both OCVB/CWC
  • Pre/post organization and prepConsumer Leisure/Group FAMs, trade showsandconferences
  • Attend Leisure Market Travel Tradeshows/Consumer Event for both OCVB/CWC.

3) Sales & Marketing consumer leisure target markets

4) Communications/creative writing and story development

5) Partner CRM/Database Development and Maintenance

Experience and Qualifications:

1) Perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility by example in this job description.
2) General area and destination knowledge, specific tothe City of Oxnard is preferred.

3) Experience with current trends in digital /social media arenas.

4) Proficient in a variety of software including Microsoft Office, MS Word, Excel, AdobeAcrobat, Google drive; familiarity with photo library software helpful.

5) Proficiency in creative writing, story development and proof reading.

6) Minimum 3-year experience in Hospitality/Tourism Sales, Marketing required. CVB experience highly desirable
7) Must have experience working with meeting planners, tour operators, group coordinators

8) Competitive knowledge and operations of the internet, and Social Mediarequired

9) High School Diploma required

5) Availablefor overnight travel to assist VP on sites visits, FAMs, consumer leisure tradeshows.
