COMPUTER TECHNICIAN-WEATHERFORD

EMPLOYEE NAME:SUPERVISOR:

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for managing and providing advanced technical support for WTC/OU Dental Hygiene’s distance learning classrooms and related equipment. Additional responsibilities include managing and maintaining internal network and providing overall technical support for Western Technology Center’s Weatherford campus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

REPORTS TO: Support staff position who reports to the BIS Campus Director – Weatherford, who is responsible for direct supervision and annual evaluation. Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the board’s policy on performance appraisal reviews for support personnel.

The Computer Technician at Burns Flat is responsible for indirect supervision of the Weatherford Computer Technician and is responsible for making general recommendations to WTC Administration as to the overall job quality and effectiveness of the technician.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate degree or certificate from a certified computer/technical training school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES,LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS:Microsoft training and certification desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematical & algebraic principles.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proven working knowledge of various networking technologies. Proven and successful experience with providing support for Microsoft Windows operating systems. Experience in software support and other computer support. Self-motivation and self-management skills desired. Ability to meet frequent deadlines requiring concentrated effort. Ability to work on a variety of projects at the same time. Administrative and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, ability to establish good rapport with staff and others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide advanced technical support for WTC/OU Dental Hygiene’s distance learning classrooms and related equipment
  2. Manage and maintain internal computer networks.
  3. Provide overall technical support for Western Technology’s Weatherford Campus, or as needed at any campus.
  4. Order computer hardware, components, software, and network cabling.
  5. Install computer hardware, components, and network cabling.
  6. Maintain computer hardware, components, and network cabling and upgrade as necessary.
  7. Troubleshoot and repair computer hardware, components and network cabling.
  8. Other duties as assigned
