JOB PURPOSE
1.)To provide a ‘one stop shop’ of holistic, accessible signposting, information and advice serviceto help local people in Portsmouth understand their options for accessing health and social care and help them to access further sources of information where needed.
2.)To supportthe maintenanceof an up to date and accurate online information hub regarding health and social care services in Portsmouth and the surrounding area.
3.)To provide a visible presence (including online) in the community to both signpost individuals, families and carers to accurate information about health and social care services and gather feedback on their use of these services in the city.
4.)To organise and undertake volunteer recruitment, supervision and training in relation to the agreed annual Healthwatch Portsmouth workplan activities.
5.)Deliver specific project based activities, under the direction of the Healthwatch Manager.
6.)Deliver administrative support to the Healthwatch Manager/Healthwatch Board.
JOB ACTIVITIES
Provide an excellent, ‘one stop shop’ approach of timely, clear and accurate information and advice on all health and social care related queries, whether by telephone, email, social media, in writing or face to face, as evidenced by customer feedback. Provide the service in ways that meet the accessibility, language and other needs of enquirers.
Support the maintenanceof a bank of accurate and up to date information on all health and social care services in Portsmouth– and nearby .
Organise throughout the year a series of public information stalls and talks at community venues to the public, community groups and staff teams to inform and gather feedback on their experience of health and social care services in the city.
Devise the marketing and promotion of the signposting and feedback service, via outreach work in the community to people who may not otherwise know it is available.
On a daily basis use social media,including the Healthwatch Portsmouth website to engage with our members, the public and promote the Healthwatch service as widely as possible.
Recruit, supervise and arrange suitable training for volunteers that meets the needs of our community engagement, signposting and work plan activities. Co-ordinate Healthwatch Portsmouth’s ‘Enter and View’ visits to social care and health facilities in Portsmouth.
Deliver specific project based activities, under the direction of the Healthwatch Manager, including the co-ordination of the work of the Portsmouth Autism Community Forum, encouraging broader engagement by seldom heard groups in the community.
Record all activity undertaken on service recording systems/databases. Collate data and produce regular reports, including social media interactions to assist the Healthwatch Manager to report upon customer satisfaction organisational and contractual requirements.
Provide administrative support where required to the Healthwatch Manager and/or Board, to include; filing, agendas, data inputting, Board meeting minutes and event arrangements.
General Requirements:
Be prepared to undertake training required to meet the evolving requirements of the service.

- Undertake any other reasonable duties, as required, to meet the aims and objectives of the post or the organisation.
Special Requirements: This role involves working some evenings and weekends (for which Time Off In Lieu is offered), and lone working within community settings across Portsmouth.

Key Requirements / Essential / Desirable
Skills & Knowledge / Excellent oral, written and ITcommunication skills using Microsoft Office Suite applications, competent in using social media,office administration, data entry and minute taking.
Ability to listen with empathy and identify the underlying needs of callers to the service.
Stakeholder focussed, ability to build rapport with a wide range of people and reflect their views in a balanced, tactful way.
Current knowledge of the local health and social care sector and the services on offer to the public, safeguarding and equal opportunities policy and practice. Ability to highlight any issues or risks.
Excellent time management skills.
Self-motivated and able to use initiative within a small office team.
Organised and a practical problem solver. / ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or an equivalent databasequalification.
Knowledge of updating information on websites and using online platforms to promote services.
Qualifications / Educated to at least ‘A’ level or equivalent / Health and/or Social Care L2 qualification or equivalent
Information and Guidance L3 Award or equivalent (or commitment to achieve)
Experience / Significant, knowledge, experience and understanding of providing a signposting, information and advice service andof administration duties.
Experience of volunteer recruitment, supervision and training
Experience of working directly with members of the public in a customer facing environment
Evidence of growth in continuous professional development. / Experience of working within a wide range of communities who will have different communication styles
