Job Description: Communications Officer

Job Purpose

To be responsible to the Deputy Director and the Senior Management Team of Creative Arts East for the development and implementation of organisation-wideexternal communications, including online and print content and campaigns which will raise the profile of the company and support key objectives within its Audience Development and Fundraising Strategies.

Core responsibilities

  5. To contribute to the annual business planning process.

Specific duties

Strategic:

  1. Initiate new and support existing promotionalcampaigns in accordance with the Business Plan and Audience Development and Fundraising strategies;
  2. Take responsibility for the production of all communications collateral in partnership with the Design Lead and Senior Management Team;
  3. Support the monitoring of activities and achievements for advocacy and reporting purposes;
  4. Oversee a communications budget in accordance with procedures agreed with the Finance Manager;
  5. Keep abreast of strategic developments at local, regional and national level that may impact on the activities or finances of the organisation.

Practical:

  1. Take the functional lead in the production of all CAE’s promotional collateral for print and online including: originating copy, briefing and collaborating with the company’s Design Leadto create visuals, overseeing in-house or external production to completion;
  2. Work with Portfolio Leads to develop, implement, update and evaluate campaign plans to promote the organisation’s core programmes and additional projects, including;
  3. Write and distribute organisation-wide media releases for local, regional, strategically important and sector specific publications and other media, and carry out and/or coordinate other relevant press liaison as required;
  4. Organise direct mail and social media campaigns, and other PR activities to promote core programmes and other activities or projects;
  5. Lead on the updating and maintenance of the CAE website;
  6. Assist in the development and delivery of the communications strategy forCAE’s Catalyst Evolve donation and corporate sponsorship drive;
  7. Undertake any other reasonable activity as may be required by the Deputy Director and Senior Management Team.

Details:

Salary: £18,648 p.a pro rata 0.6FTEsubject to three-month probationary period

Contract:Initially one year, with possible scope for extension

Hours:22.5hours per week, actual working hours to be agreed with DeputyDirector

Leave: 19.5 days including public holidays
