JOB TITLE: High Value Fundraising Officer
DEPARTMENT: Fundraising and Marketing
REPORTS TO: Special Events Manager

Core Purpose:
To provide a high standard of support to the Special Events Team, helping to maximise income from current special events and providing administrative support to the Special Events team and for colleagues managing major donor relationships.
Responsibilities:
Special Events Tasks:
· Assisting the Special Events Manager and Special Events Fundraiser in planning, marketing and delivering our programme of Special Events
· Sourcing prizes and maintaining a ‘bank’ of prizes that can be used at Make-A-Wish events
· Ensuring committee members, prize donors and guests are given excellent stewardship and thanked appropriately for both cash and in-kind donations
· Updating the prize database with donations and ensuring we have full and accurate information about each prize
· Producing prize certificates for the winners
· Ensuring prizes are fulfilled by liaising with prize winners, prize donors and committee members
· Undertaking a range of administrative tasks, such as handling booking forms, updating the database and guest lists issuing invoices and tracking income for the events.
· Recording data and information so that the Special Events Manager can access and remain abreast of progress as required
· Collating copy and images for the event programmes
Major donor activities:
· Provide administrative support to colleagues managing major donor relationships
· Record data on major donors accurately and ensure GDPR best practice is followed
· Identify stewardship opportunities suitable for major donors
· Prepare biographies for prospective donors attending events
· Prepare briefings in advance of meetings and undertake follow-up activity as requested
· Attend meetings with donors and prospects as appropriate
General:
· Work with the wider Fundraising Team and other departments within Make-A-Wish to keep abreast of all activities and ensure the successful delivery of Special Events
· Have a personal commitment to and understanding of equal opportunities and an awareness of how it might impact on Make-A-Wish in general, and on this job in particular
· Support Make-A-Wish and its goals at all times
· Be flexible in your approach to work, including working out of hours when necessary (time in lieu will be given)
Person Attributes:
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
· Experience of events planning and delivery
· Experience of working in an office and confidence about basic office processes
· Proven ability to work with databases and financial information
· Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including a confident telephone manner
Leadership and Management
· Ability to work within a team and alone
· Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Personal Qualities
· Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills
· Highly diplomatic, able to liaise with prospects, donors and supporters in a professional, calm and courteous manner
