Post:Centre Manager

Salary:£30,000 pro rata

Hours:22.5 per week (Actual £18000), flexible, to include occasional evenings and weekends. Fixed term until March 2017 in the first instance.This post has a three month probationary period.

Responsible for: Centre Assistant, Employment Support Worker, Cook, Play team, Caretaker, Any other staff employed by ACCA

Background

Avonmouth Community Centre Association is a charitable company that aims to improve the quality of life for all residents of Avonmouth, Bristol through providing excellent community facilities and services. The post holder will be based at Avonmouth Community Centre, Avonmouth, Bristol.

Purpose of Job

To be responsible for the leadership, strategy development and efficient management of Avonmouth Community Centre Association, in conjunction with the Board of Directors.

To be responsible for securing appropriate resources, working collaboratively with partners, and ensuring the delivery of high quality facilities and services, in line with the aims and objectives of the organisation. To lead on the development of a new business plan for the centre, and liaise with BCC and Library Services on the future of Avonmouth Library within the Community Centre building.

To manage the development of a plan for securing improved community facilities in Avonmouth, primarily through creating an agreed strategy for the future of ACCA.

To ensure that the centre directly contributes to the better health and wellbeing of local residents through its directly delivered services and events, or hosted activities and events.

Principal Duties

To work with ACCA’s Board of Directors, partner agencies, staff and volunteers in developing and delivering the vision and strategic objectives of the Association, and review, monitor and update ACCA Business Plan as required.

To work with the ACCA Board of Directors and partner agencies, ensuring that all legal and operational requirements of the company are met, including the requirements of funders, auditors, Companies House and the Charities Commission.

To organise and attend regular meetings of the ACCA Board and provide reports as required.

To maintain and develop the staff management systems, ensure best practice in all employment policies and procedures and provide management of all staff employed by ACCA.

To oversee the creation, maintenance and development of good work practices, quality control and administrative systems, including monitoring and evaluation systems.

To manage ACCA’s SLAs, contracts and MAOs and ensure agreed targets and outcomes are met.

To ensure that ACCA’s services reflect the priorities of the organisation’s service users and enable users to participate and influence the activities of the Association.

To develop good working relationships with appropriate agencies and companies, including funders, establishing and maintaining networks and partnerships that assist in the implementation of ACCA’s objectives.

To keep abreast of changing local, national and international policies and best practice relevant to the work of Avonmouth Community Association.

General

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of managing services or buildings
  • Experience of Health & Safety, including risk assessment & maintenance management
  • A track record of developing services
  • Experience of community development work
  • Understanding of health and wellbeing issues
  • Experience of developing fundraising strategies and securing grant funding
  • A proven track record of working in partnership with public, private and voluntary sector partners
  • A proven track record of promoting (through marketing, outreach) services and events
  • Good administrative skills with a proven ability to monitor outputs and measure outcomes from activities
  • Sound financial management skills

  • Experience of managing community buildings
