Job Description (40 hour position)

Center for Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Survivors

Reports To:

Adult Services Director

Outreach Advocate Basic Responsibilities:

·  Responsibilities include expanding services provided by Center for Survivors to victims in six county service areas.

·  Develop effective partnerships with community citizens, leaders, local officials, and community agencies.

·  Promote public awareness activities in order to provide information to potential victims of abuse.

·  At a minimum, spend one day per month in each of the Center’s six counties: Boone, Butler, Colfax, Nance, Platte, and Polk, providing the following service:

o  Making personal contact with area professionals, i.e. law enforcement, prosecution, mental health, clergy, health care professionals, etc., to inform them of the Center services and offer materials to be displayed.

o  Frequent public places to distribute agency materials.

o  Provide advocacy to community individuals who come forth with personal stories, etc…

·  Attend county fairs, health fairs, and other area community events and activities to raise awareness of Center for Survivors services.

·  Attend collaborative meetings and coalitions as requested by Executive Director and Adult Services Director.

·  Provide outreach to specific agencies within community as assigned such as Rainbow Center, Seekers of Serenity, Columbus Rescue Mission, etc…

·  Complete proper paperwork (i.e., Community Education/Outreach Forms, Face-to-Face, Telephone Contact Sheets, Monthly Activity Summaries, etc.) accurately and in a timely fashion.

·  Create, collaborate and update educational presentations, handouts, fliers, brochures, and other awareness and outreach information in order to provide services to victims of abuse alongside Volunteer/Communications Coordinator. Executive Director must approve final materials prior to being provided within community.

·  Chair and/or Coordinated major public awareness events, especially those centered on Stalking Awareness Month in January, Teen Dating Violence in February, Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, Elder Abuse in June, Domestic Violence Awareness in October and Human Trafficking as the issue continues to grow in order to get services to victims.

·  Provide public speaking as requested by the Executive Director.

·  Provide assistance to advocates in working with clients.

·  Provide direct advocacy as needed to victims when providing outreach awareness activities.

·  Assist the Executive Director with special events, fundraisers, and community outreach which includes decorating and coordination of donations and materials and/or supplies for events.

·  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

At the minimum, a High School Diploma.
