We are seeking a highly motivated person to help generate new income from grants, businesses and general fundraising for the Trust’s vital conservation and environmental education work on our network of nature reserves and beyond. Wildlife conservation has never been more urgent and the more funds we can raise, the more we can achieve for nature and future generations across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull.

Role Profile

Job purpose:
Accountable to: / Assist with maximising the generation of income from external grants as well as unrestricted income, together with maximising the generation of income from and engagement with local businesses, in order to meet the Trust’s objectives and improve sustainability of the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. External grant applications
  2. Assist with grant applications, identifying funding sources, writing applications, researching supporting material, liaising with funders and partners prior to submission, and providing support for colleagues as required.
  3. Assist with maintenance of database of submitted grant applications
  4. Assist with maintenance of database of funding opportunities, scanning a range of external sources for new relevant funding opportunities.

  6. Provide copy for monthly enewsletters, Wild Warwickshire Magazine, press releases and other promotional materials.
  7. Attend business networking events as appropriate.
  8. Work with marketing team to create range of promotional materials for businesses.

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust was established out of the West Midlands Trust for Nature Conservation in 1970 and now manages 65 nature reserves, has 23,000 members and is supported by more than 1,000 volunteers. The Trust is the largest local environmental conservation charity working across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull.

Our main purpose is to promote the interests of wildlife, wild places and the natural environment for the wider benefit of society, people and local communities.

Selection and Assessment

The candidates who appear to best meet the person specification will be invited to attend for interview. We recommend that applicants pay particular attention to demonstrating how they meet the person specification on the application form.

The assessment will consist of an interview and practical exercise designed to give candidates an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and suitability for the post. Details will be sent to short-listed candidates.

Appointment

All our offers of employment are made, subject to some pre-employment checks including: Satisfactory References, Checks on eligibility to work in the United Kingdom, Checks on relevant certificates.

Salary

Your initial salary will be based on your skills, knowledge and experience, and progression will be based on your performance. You will be paid monthly in arrears by credit transfer to a bank or building society account.

Location

This post will be based at the Trust’s offices at Brandon Marsh Nature Centre, Coventry. Employees may be required to work at other Trust or non-Trust sites from time to time.

Hours of Work

Our employees work a 35 hour week (full time). In view of Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s work, employees can be called upon from time to time to work a reasonable period outside of the set hours.No overtime will be payable. Time Off in Lieu will be given for any hours worked in excess of the 35 hours.

Holiday Entitlement

Our holiday year runs from 1st April to 31st March. Full time employees get 25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays. For permanent members of staff this increases to 27 days after 2 years and 28 days after 5 years.

Pension

You will be automatically enrolled in the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust Stakeholder Pension Scheme if you meet the eligibility criteria, though you may opt out. Both the Trust and employee contribute 4% of salary to the scheme.

If you choose to leave the Trust you will be required to give one months’ notice.
