There is no cost to post/advertise on a JiscMail mailing list, the person posting would firstly (and in most cases) need to be subscribed to the list that they want to post to. The post itself would also need to be appropriate to the list and meet the approval of the owner of the list .

In general terms, when you subscribe to a JiscMail list you will receive all of the messages sent to that list, if the list is a discussion list, then you can reply to these messages and take part in the discussion/information sharing. If you join an announcement list, then you'll receive messages from it, but you can't reply to them.

When you've found a list you'd like to join, you send an email to:

You can leave the subject blank, and in the message put: SUBSCRIBE LISTNAME (replace the word LISTNAME with the name of the list you want to join).

If you register a password on the JiscMail website, you can access and read the archives of the lists you are a member of as well as post to the discussion lists which you are subscribed to. Also when you are logged in, you can quickly subscribe to new lists - if you go to a list homepage, e.g you can use the "subscribe or unsubscribe" option to join the list.

To register or reset a password on the JiscMail website:

1. Go to

2. Click REGISTER PASSWORD

3. Enter your email address

4. Create a password

5. Click REGISTER PASSWORD

6. You'll receive an email from LISTSERV which has a link in it, either click the link or copy/paste this
