APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR TEACHER CERTIFICATION
All certified early childhood teachers will receive an LON showing the Category and Deployment Level. The original copies of the LON are issued to the teachers by the Ministry and should be given to them. Centre supervisors are required to make duplicate copies for centres’ filing for the purpose of licensing and audit.
2 To facilitate the teacher certification process, all particulars of programme staff (i.e. Centre Supervisor, Child Care Teachers including Para-Educators and Educarers, and Early Years Educarers) must be current in the Child Care Link System (CCLS).
3 Foreign early childhood qualifications is assessed with Teacher Certification. Any early childhood programme that is not PQAC accredited must be assessed as equivalent or exceeding the DECCE-T qualification to be accepted as met the professional qualification of a child care teacher. Some may require additional top-ups like supervised teaching practice to meet this criteria.
4Centres should first do a self-assessment of the foreign qualification to the PQAC-accredited Diploma course before confirming the employment. Assessment criteria include:
· Entry requirements to the early childhood (EC) qualification;
· Duration of the EC course;
· Course content must include:
- Principles and Practices in Early Childhood Care and Education
- Child Development and Learning
- Curriculum Studies and Pedagogy
- Personal growth and Professional Development
- Safety, Health, Hygiene and Nutrition
- Partnership with Families and the Community
- Supervised Teaching Practice
· Modes of Assessment;
· Supervised Teaching Practice.

SUBMISSION OF DOCUMENTS
Teacher Certification / a) Cover letter (the name and contact number of sender, centre name, centre code, and a brief summary of the intent of the application.)
b) Copy of NRIC/ WP/EP
c) Copies of all academic and/or professional qualifications
(Include GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ level certificates, diplomas and degrees - local and overseas - with transcripts, and translations, if any.)
Note: All documents must be certified-true by the centre’s supervisor. The centre will be held liable for any discrepancies found during the teacher certification process.
