Aims and objectives: Jeunesse et Reconstruction is a youth organisation, whose aim is to favour and promote international youth exchanges, through the means of voluntary service, regardless of social, racial or religious background to develop personal commitment in a group or individual activity.
Activities: workcamps (short term, midterm), long term volunteering (ICYE), trainings, language courses, agricultural work
Conditions for participation in our workcamps:
- age limit: 18 to 30 years old (except social camps: 20 to 30 years old)
- common languages used in the camps: English/French or French/English depending on the composition of the groups,
- camp fees: none, except one teenage camp (see description)
- French speaking camps: some camps are declared French speaking, to promote the use of French language, and to give a possibility to the volunteers to practice French. Other camps are indicated as French-speaking because they are social camps, where knowledge of French is compulsory.
Requirements/what to bring (common to all camps)
1 At the end of the workcamp, no transportation will be organized by our association. You will then have to arrange your own means of transport to return to the train station.
2 Our association does not provide a car during the workcamp.
3 Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them the E111 form now called European Insurance Card (for the refunding of medical expenses in your country).
4 Do not forget to bring: a sleeping bag, warm clothes (a sweater and rain-coat), a bathing suit. For male volunteers: short pants are generally prohibited in the public swimming pools in France, please bring a bathing suit. For work: worn out clothes and strong shoes. Your games, songbooks, cassettes, musical instruments and recipes, will be also welcome! To make exchanges and encounters easier, please also bring photographs of your home, some postcards, and small gifts.

WORK: Sharing the daily life of the Residents of the Home "Le Coral" which host mentally handicapped people and disadvantaged youth. Taking part in the activities organised for the residents (gardening, visits, artistic activities, etc.) and organising entertainment. ATTENTION: you will work as part of the team, and follow daily schedule, staff meetings. A real motivation is required. Volunteers MUST confirm participation to the project.
ACCOMODATION: Accommodation in one of the buildings of the center. Meals are taken with the residents of the Home

LOCATION: Aimargues is a picturesque village located in Southern France, near N?mes. Le Coral is located in a beautiful natural environment and has a lovely garden, a vegetable garden, and animals.

WORK: Under the supervision of the volunteers of an association of safeguard of the heritage who will initiate you to the stonework, you will participate to the restoration work on an old stone vineyard house.
Remark: the work site is half an hour far from the location site by feet.
ACCOMODATION: At the camp-site of the village, under tents, with facilities in a nearby building.
We cannot be responsible for you if you arrive before the beginning of workcamp.

LOCATION: Camon is a very small village of about 150 inhabitants, located in the Ariиge department, in the Cathare country. To be found around : wild and preserved nature to discover, between forests and old middle-age castle constructions with very beautiful views. You will have the occasion to meet the inhabitants and local volunteers of the association which will make you discover the history of their village and who will host cordially.

WORK: Under the supervision of specialists, who will inform you about the necessity of maintaining rivers and streams, you will participate in river cleaning work: clearing, pruning and tree cutting, cleaning of river bed and banks. ATTENTION: please bring good shoes, work will be on sliding soil.
ACCOMODATION: In a building, with all facilities available. We cannot be responsible for you if you arrive before the beginning of workcamp.

LOCATION: The workcamp takes place in a town of the suburb of Toulouse. Many things are to be discovered on the spot: Toulouse, easily reachable, will offer its riches of its heritage (construction in brick); many hikes are possible: visit the Canal du Midi (UNESCO world heritage), the beauty of the valleys of Lauragais and traditional local cuisine. You will also meet the local population, who will be pleased to show you their region (local feasts, common meals, etc).

WORK: You will participate in agricultural work, planting and harvesting; maintenance of the buildings, the installation of folds for animals in the pinewood in front of the house, in the restoration of the access path to the farm and in the vegetables plantations. As the farm also runs as a biological farm, with hosting of visitors, you may (if you wish) participate in preparation of meals for visitors
ACCOMODATION: In the main house, one room for the groupf of 4 international volunteers, space available being quite reduced. All facilities are available. Active members of the association live in the house (4 persons permanently). Shared meals for lunch; volunteers organise and take diner on their own. Nb : home stay type requires effort from everyone. No internet access in the house, no TV. There is a library on Trets where books can be lent with internet access (however, the farm is isolated from the village centre, at 4 km). Bring some games for evenings.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Minimum age: 20. NB: there is no campleader; volunteers work under supervision of the active members of the association. Group is composed of 4 volunteers only. Volunteers should be interested in contributing to the development of the project; to work at different tasks according to the needs; be ready to share one room with other volunteers, respect the rules of home stay and common "family type" living. REMARKS: Camp for 4 volunteers only, no campleader, volunteers work with people in charge of the project, home stay type, please read carefully camp-information.

LOCATION: In the south east of France - the mountains of Vercors lay between the valley of Isere at the north and the Diois region at the south. Water has cut in its cliffs deep gorges, circuses, caves and pits among the most famous in Europe. Woods and valleys shaped by agriculture shelter remarkable fauna and flora. The great diversity of the landscapes allows practicing many outdoor sport and leisure activities. This natural environment inspires humility and respect. WORK: History made that the village owns a splendid church of the XVth century. You will take part in the restoration of the staircases which lead to it. It will be necessary to withdraw few centimetres of steps, to lay drains and to cover with adapted and aesthetic material.

LOCATION: At about 20 kilometers from St-Etienne and with about fifteen from Montbrison, St Bonnet le Chвteau associates middle age inheritance, tourism and industrial future. Its church, surrounded by the old boroughs, its camp-site near a small lake, an industrial area separated from the touristic part and an important shopping centre, make up a pleasant and quiet living environment. Many activities are possible: pedestrian excursions and mountain bike, swimming, walks on river Loire banks. Visit St Bonnet le Chateau, surrounding medieval boroughs, museum of the XXth century in Estivareille, Eco-museum of the Mounts du Forez in Usson en Forez, Vignal mills in Apinac, Loire cstles … -

WORK: On a former industrial land intended to become communal park, you will have to do cleaning and clearing work to make the site accessible. Some masonry work will also be necessary: a channel and basins used for fish growing will be repaired.

LOCATION: In the south east of France, and south of the Loire department close to Ardeche department, discover a town in the middle of the Natural reserve of Pilat, at the junction of three rivers. The village is attached to the district of Saint-Etienne, and has developed its own specificity between the towns of Annonay Ardeche) and Saint-Etienne (Loire). It offers a very pleasant environment to live in, with all facilities (transport, shops, services) and allow everyone to live according to their wishes. For thos fond of history, Borough-Argental owns a large number of vestiges which testify of the richness of its past. Many visits of villages and towns rich of art and culture are possible: Annonay, Lyon, St Etienne, St Julien Molin Molin Molette... The Natural reserve of Pilat offers many possibilities of discovery.

WORK: You will participate in the clearing of the vegetation which covers the walls of the castle, and, in the restoration of these walls. With a specialist, you will rebuild and consolidate a wall, and to some painting work.

LOCATION: Fontanиs is a rural village of 620 inhabitants, located at the start of the “Monts du Lyonnais”, almost 20 kms away from St Etienne. Region of medium altitude, the landscape is composed of a succession of mountainous croups surrounded by small valleys with huge slopes. The nearness of the Natural Park of le Pilat is a further attractive point. Possible free time actvities (you can organize them, at your expenses, with the camp leader): visit of St Etienne (museum of Art and Industry, the Astronef, The Montaud Park...). Discovery of Firminy (the biggest site: “Le Corbusier d’Europe”), visit of Lyon, the PilatPark, sports: football, hikes, tennis, swimming... Meeting with other workcamps:

WORK: Guided by a communal employee who already worked with a workcamp in 2004, 2005, you will participate in the restoration of a washing place: clearing around, small masonry work on the washing place and on the fountain
ACCOMODATION: In the changing rooms of the football ground. Not many shops in the village. LOCATION: The town of Creuzier-le-Vieux overlooks the valley of river Allier, and a part of its territory approaches its banks. The town owns an interesting historical inheritance, particularly with its Roman church and several elements of small inheritance (crosses, washer). Next to the town of Vichy, it is also neighbouring the town of Cusset. Creuzier-le-Vieux has many advantages thanks to its nearness to settings of touristic and cultural interest. Population: 3,000 inhabitants. Towns nearby: Cusset (2 km), Vichy (4 km).
Jeunesse et Reconstruction will organize one visit during the workcamp.

WORK: You will be guided by employees and volunteers of the LPO. You will possibly work 3 days per week. Site of the workcamp is in the nature, isolated from the village. Installation of the observatory (to build and install wooden furniture), cleaning of the river banks and its small islands (cut of small trees, clearing of undergrowth), remove certain invasive plants (cut). Nature lovers are expected! Committment to the project necessary.

LOCATION: Saint-Rйmy-en-Rollat, nice village which name comes from the Rollat family, lords of the region and the bishop of Reims, who came at one time in this village to build a priory there, is located near Vichy, between forests and the Allier river. The village extends on approximately 2000 hectares, with 22 hamlets. The site of the workcamp is a place considered by the elected persons as a natural zone to preserve. At the exit of Vichy, the river is between the airport (western) the SNCF railway station and the industrial zone of Vichy-Rhue. To conclude, the river Allier is here like a sick body... but it still remains beautiful! WORK: You will carry three different projects: Renovation of carriages at the train station of Tence – removing rust and painting (guided by the association of the touristic train) / Creation of a path near the river – clearing, laying out of the banks (guided by a fishing company) / Restoration of the inside of an old house – painting work (guided by one person). You will be divided in three groups.
ACCOMODATION: In a flat above the swimming pool.
Small walk to go to the workcamps, transport by car for the workcamp.

LOCATION: Please bring warm clothes since Tence is located at 900 m high and evenings can be cold, even during summers. Tence is a small town in the countryside, before the Plateau Vivarais-Lignon, at the heart of a landscape of fields and forests. WORK: With a local volunteer, you will have to remove the ivy which covers the pile of the footbridge, to clean and replaster the base with a traditional mortar with lime. Laying out of the access path: to create water drench and clear of undergrowth and clean the accesses of the site.
