To apply for a scholarship, you must submit the following:
PERSONAL ESSAY: Pierce College Foundation scholarships are awarded based on many different criteria. In essay form, please provide as much information as you can about the following. Your answer should be no more than one typewritten page. The essay is an opportunity to communicate something important about yourself and will help the committee best evaluate your fit for appropriate scholarships.
· How has the college experience elevated you both professionally and personally? Have you become a better person? Describe how that development has occurred and how it is represented in your life.
· How will you elevate and enhance your chosen profession through your participation and presence.
· Describe how your qualifications satisfy particular criteria listed on Page 1.
RECOMMENDATION LETTER: Submit one letter of recommendation from a reference who can speak to your academic ability, personal qualities, financial need, personal circumstances, etc. Possible authors include a counselor, instructor, advisor or employer. (letters of recommendation should not come from relatives)
TRANSCRIPT: Attach a copy of your most recent college transcript (unofficial copies are acceptable). If you are a first quarter student, please attach your high school transcript if recent.
Award Notification: The Scholarship Committee considers recipients for a number of scholarships. The Scholarships are awarded competitively on the basis of academic achievement, as well as other criteria, including financial need, recommendation, and statements made by applicants. Applicants will be notified via mail by December 20, 2013.
