Central Florida Chapter

Monday, February 11, 2002

All the members of our association here in the Central Florida Chapter have shared in the pursuit of better education in the field of hospitality. The training of the hospitality work force has been helped by our efforts and $$$ for many years. I thank every one of you who has found the time or effort to be part of the team that has raised funds for education. I thank those of you willing to speak to the school classes when they need volunteers. I thank the Chefs who have gone with me to the Juvenile Detention Center to try to bring those semi-lost souls a vision for a way out of the hole they have created for them selves.

We have been supported by, and in turn supported the following institutions over the years: The University of Central Fl., Valencia Community College, Mid Fl. Tech., Webber International University, Seminole Community College, Cypress Creek High, Colonial High, Oak Ridge High, Dr. Phillips High, and Lake Mary High.

There are only a few ways we can raise money to run our chapter and be able to donate to schools and the F.R.A. PAC. The first opportunity to get involved as a member is of course our monthly dinner meetings.

The second way is to participate in our golf tournament on the 17th of April. The sign up sheet will be coming to you as well. If you can play, come on and do so. If you want to sponsor a team, or bring a foursome you save a $100 bucks from the single prices. If you can sponsor a hole you can set up a food or beverage stand or a product stand to showcase your wares. There are of course many sponsorship opportunities. Any thing you and your company can do to enhance the tournament will help to show our united strength is supporting the causes we believe in. We need shirts and hats, coolers and balls, tees and prizes, players and foodstuffs. Adult beverages and water would be nice as well.

I know that a lot budgets have been cut due to the tragedies of last year. I hope you can find a way to help or play. There will be a second tournament in the fall during the Food show.

Lastly we are exploring a Taste of Central Florida for the fall. This fun event tied in with music could be a great gig for us all. Jeff Coyle
