Jarod James Dial
Memorial Academic /Athletic Scholarship
In memory of Jarod James Dial, his family is offering two scholarships of $500.00
to one graduating senior boy and girl of Frankfort Community High School, West
Frankfort, Illinois.
Jarod, the beloved son of Rodney and Jayma Dial, and brother of Jory and Jalyn
Dial, was a junior at FCHS when he passed away at the age of sixteen. In his short
life, Jarod was blessed with characteristics of dedication, perseverance,
teamwork, caring, and compassion. This allowed him to achieve success in
academics, sports, and in his relationships with others. He will always be
remembered for his fun-loving personality and his cheerful smile. Jarod had
planned to attend college and had expressed his wishes to become a coach.
Requirements for the Scholarship
1. Applicants for the scholarships must live in the Frankfort Community High
School district.
2. Applicants for the scholarship must have a well-rounded high school career,
having the ability to achieve goals or potential success.
3. Applicants must have maintained a "B"average or better in high school.
4. Applicants must have earned, or be in the process of earning, a total of four
sports letters during their junior and senior year.
S. Applicants must submit a handwritten 250-word essay. This must include a brief
autobiography, and state the career or profession he/she has chosen and the
reasons for making this choice.
6. The recipients will be chosen by a committee of FCHS faculty and the family of
Jarod James Dial.
In the event either of the recipients does not complete fall registration for the
college or university of his/her choice, the scholarship check will be forfeited and
an alternate recipient will be chosen.
Applications may be downloaded from the Guidance website. The application and
essay must be returned to the Guidance Office by April 17, 2012.
The scholarship winners will be announced at Senior Awards Night.
