January 17, 2017 Meeting Minutes

Ms. Fonte opened the meeting with a group prayer on January 17, 2017 at 7:05pm.

Order of Business:

Report Cards: The second quarter report cards will begin showing a grading system between 1 to 4 in standards, along with a numerical percentage grade. Ms. Fonte has a power point presentation that she will send to any family that is interested regarding a meeting that she has attended on this topic.

Heritage Day: February 2, 2017 from noon to 1pm. All families are welcome. Grades K to 2nd will celebrate in the gym. Grades 3rd to 5th will celebrate in the S.T.E.M. Lab and grades 6th to 8th will celebrate in the cafeteria. More information will be sent home regarding this event shortly.

New Lighting: The lighting in the school parking lot is being updated and improved.

Poles in the parking lot: Poles in the school parking lot will be covered with rubber to ensure the safety for the children. Additional activities during recess will be added for the children.

Good Counsel Academy Elementary School: This school, which is currently in Valhalla, N.Y. will be closing at the end of the school year. Ms. Fonte has spoken with the principal of this school and has received calls from many interested families. We hope to welcome many of them into our Transfiguration School family next year. Ms. Fonte has extended an invitation to these families to our Communion Breakfast during Catholic School’s Week.

After School Enrichment: Any parent interested in coordinating and arranging the after school enrichment program is urged to speak with Ms. Fonte.

Chess Club: A notice will be sent home shortly to inquire if any students would be interested in joining a chess club. The children will learn the strategies of chess and compete with other schools in chess tournaments.

Calendar Raffle: The calendar raffle is underway and checks for the winners are being issued. Please check the school website under “latest news” to see who our lucky winners are!

Parent Guild Dues: There are currently a number of families that have not paid the mandatory $75.00 Parent Guild Dues for this school year. This fee IS NOT collected by Smart Tuition. A notice will be sent home shortly to the families that have not paid to date.

Upcoming School Events:

- A parent social will be held on March 1, 2017 at the Tarry Tavern and one evening during May at the Huddle in Sleepy Hollow. The cost will be $20.00 a person plus cash bar. More information on these fun events will follow.

- March 24, 2017: Father Daughter Dance

- April 29, 2017: School Spring Fundraiser at the Church Hall. Mr. Mirabella has been able to get all food and linen donated by the Westchester Manor! We are currently in need of volunteers to help plan and assist with the decorations, donations and auctions. Please contact Liz Rooney or Madeline Seguinot to help.

The next Parent Guild meeting will be held on February 7, 2017.
