JANET ARLINE (BRAWLEY) WILLINGHAM
Today we celebrate a beautiful life of someone we all love. Some might call her Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt or Daughter, but most of all she was a friend to everyone. Janet Arline (Brawley) Willingham joined her loved ones in Heaven on February 15, 2006 after an eight year battle with lung cancer. Though toward the end she became weak and tired, she always showed the beautiful smile that revealed her accomplished life.
She not only was a wonderful Mother to her only child, Timmy Douglas Davis, but also a wonderful Grandma to her three most adored grandchildren, Alaina Nicole Smith of Winona, Missouri, Jessica Wynn Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Christopher Douglas Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She especially loved her beautiful great-grandson, Dylan Robert Smith of Winona, Missouri. Janet resided in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for many years but she was always a country girl at heart.
She was born on November 14, 1946 and raised in Winona, Missouri. One of her favorite sayings was always, "A country girl can survive!" Even though she had been surrounded by the hustle and bustle of the city; she always called Shannon County her one and only home.
Her daddy, Carl Millege Brawley, and mom, Ada Ilene Price, lay peacefully at home in Shannon County along with her two brothers, Melvin Lee Brawley and Wayne Lawrence.
Janet had always had great pride and respect for her country, and always cherished the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She told many great stories of helping Veterans recuperate while she practiced Physical Therapy in Mt. View and Mexico, Missouri. She had earned an Associates Degree in Physical Therapy along with business ownership and management. Her final place of employment was at Wal-Mart in Oklahoma City where she made many wonderful friends who helped her through the rough times.
Janet cherished her family and truly was the happiest when her family got together for her son's famous fish fries or just spending time on the lake tubing. Janet’s legacy carries on through her brother, Marvin Loyd Brawley and wife Linda of Winona, Missouri. As well as her son, Timmy Douglas Davis and wife Donna of Moore, Oklahoma, her three grandchildren, and only great-grand child. Janet will always and forever remain in our hearts and memories as a Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Daughter, and friend. A wake at the home of Marvin and Linda Brawley in Winona, Missouri will begin at 4:00 pm on Thursday, February 23, 2006. Internment is scheduled at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2006 at Pinelawn Cemetery in Winona, Missouri. [Courtesy of The Current Wave.]
