CONTEXT:
The role holder will work across the busy Fundraising and Marketing team implementing the annual plan and delivery of our longer term strategy. Working as part of a busy and successful Fundraising and Marketing Team, you will be the first point of contact for relationships with existing communal contacts, whilst developing new ones within your area.
You will be responsible for growing and implementing a sustainable community fundraising strategy in order to raise funds and increase awareness and participation amongst new and existing supporters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Responsibilities will include:

  • Become knowledgeable about the synagogues, groups and schools actively engaged with Jami in order to identify opportunities to maximise income through fundraising activities.
  • To offer Jami speakers and training opportunities as part of synagogues’ programmes of activities (liaising with Jami Head Room team).
  • To focus the attention of the community on key dates e.g. World Mental Health Day and lead the delivery of Jami’s flagship community Mental Health Awareness Shabbat weekend, Head On.
  • Research, develop and implement an annual Mass Participation Event for Jami to tie in with Mental Health Awareness Shabbat to further engage the community.
  • Work closely with and alongside Jami’s Head Room Recovery Education team on their work in schools, synagogues and other organisations to build more awareness of Jami and identify follow-on fundraising opportunities.
  • As well as working on your own event portfolio you’ll also work closely with the Event Manager to support our range of special events.
  • Maximise income generation by utilising volunteers who give time to the charity, individually and through fundraising groups and by supporting other key fundraising initiatives.

About You

  • A demonstrable ability to create and develop relationships with groups and individuals
  • A comfortable, confident communicator with the ability to motivate and engage individuals to take on challenges and raise funds for the charity.
  • Highly organised, you’re a team player, driven to achieve results with a passion for events.
  • Experience and understanding of working within the Jewish community, working within a busy Fundraising Team,
  • Knowledge of charity databases would be helpful.

Events Management

  • To provide support to special events operated by Jami.
  • Help with the logistics of donor cultivation events identified as being necessary to grow the donor base and maintain the existing one.
  • Assemble materials required for fundraising events
  • Provide additional support for Head Room educational events and other community wide events e.g. Maccabi Fun Run, JW3, Jewish Expo etc
  • Assist with the monitoring of the project plan for each scheduled event including the expected return-on-investment.
  • Identify opportunities for sponsorship.
  • Assist with event follow up, documenting donations and pledges
  • Support with evaluating each event and applying lessons learnt to future

plans.

Donor Care

  • Ensuring donors are thanked appropriately with up to date and relevant letters
  • Work with the Database and Income Manager to report the results and impact of our work in order to continuously improve.
  • Help with the promotion and enhancement of our celebratory giving offerings
  • Become proficient user of the Jami fundraising and contact management system ThankQ.

Teamwork

As a member of staff, to contribute effectively and positively to organisation-wide events, projects and initiatives.

This will involve:

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues as required
  • Undertake other duties as required and requested by your Line Manager
  • To adhere to Jami policies and procedures.
  • To have a commitment to Jami’s ethos and values.
  • To attend regular supervision with named supervisor.

EXPERIENCE / Working within a fundraising environment on a voluntary or employed basis
Copywriting across a number of platforms
Experience of actively engaging with local groups, businesses and/or community networks to secure support.
User of social media and websites
Substantial experience of setting, managing and delivering on challenging targets within strict deadlines / Experience of event logistics
Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.
Experience of working in Fundraising at a community level, including experience of "making the ask" for support.
KNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLS / Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Community Fundraising models
Ability to interact with staff of all disciplines and work as part of a multi skilled team.
Good IT skills – including Word, Excel and PowerPoint / Experience and knowledge of the Jewish community
Successfully recruiting and managing volunteers and building volunteer networks
Proven ability to work to a high standard and with an eye for detail, working to strict deadlines, and managing multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.
OTHER / Enthusiasm, commitment, reliability
Excellent inter-personal skills including diplomacy, tactfulness and listening skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours and some out of hours work at events / An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people who experience mental health problems.
