SPORTSMANSHIP AGREEMENT:

It is the duty and responsibility of all concerned with middle school athletics to emphasize the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play. Athletes, parents/guardians are expected to respect the integrity and judgment of officials, to show courtesy to visiting teams, and to recognize that an athletic contest is only a game, the purpose of which is to promote the physical, mental, moral, social and emotional well being of the individual athletes. Please read and abide by the following behavior guidelines established below for the ATHLETE and PARENTS/GUARDIANS. The term “WE” applies to the athlete, parents/guardians and anyone else who attends ______Tennis events in support of your student.

1. We will emphasize the proper ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play.

2. We will show courtesy to visiting teams and officials.

3. We will remember that an athletic contest is only a game.

4. We have read and agree to abide by the Rules of Tennis and Rules of Tennis Etiquette.

4. As the athlete, I will learn and understand the rules of the game.

5. As the athlete, I will refrain from the use of language that degrades, intimidates or is profane.

6. As the athlete, I will refrain from criticism of my team mates.

7. As the parent/guardian, I will not criticize officials or undermine their authority.

8. As the parent/guardian, I will keep a positive outlook on the after school sports program.

Constructive criticism for the program will be directed to the Athletic Director or School Administration.

9. As the parent /guardian, I will not enter onto the field or court during competitions, yell from the bleachers to the coach or provide instructions for my son/daughter or other members of the team other than positive and supportive comments.
