All-Star Selection Procedures

Jackson County Parks and Recreation will offer an All-Star program in baseball, softball, basketball, soccer and volleyball for ages 8 and up, boys and girls. JacksonCountyParks and Recreation may offer two teams if there are ten or more teams in an age group. In any age group, Jackson County Parks and Recreation reserves the right to not send All-Star teams when it feels they could not be competitive or there would be a hardship on the players/parents in traveling to the tournament.

  1. Governing Authority: the governing authority for All-Star selections and play shall lie with the Jackson County Parks and Recreation department, Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and Dizzy Dean Baseball/Softball Association. Final authority in regards to player and coach selection and representation shall lie with JacksonCountyParks and Recreation. Final authority in regards to playing rules shall lie with Georgia Recreation and Parks Association and Dizzy Dean Baseball/Softball.

  1. It is a privilege to be selected as players and coaches to represent JacksonCountyParks and Recreation and JacksonCounty on an All-Star team. All players and coaches are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner at all times. JacksonCountyParks and Recreation reserves the right to deny or revoke All-Star participation from any player or coach in order to maintain the integrity of the All-Star program.
  2. Any player or coach that has been ejected during the regular season or in any post season tournament may be declared ineligible for participation on an All-Star team.
  3. Only one representative per team will be allowed at All-Star selections. This representative must be listed on Jackson County Parks and Recreation coaches list as a head or assistant coach for that team.
  1. Player Selection
  1. Basketball All-Star rosters will carry ten players;
    Baseball and Softball rosters will carry 12 players;
    Volleyball rosters will carry 12 players;

Soccer rosters will carry the following: 8U and 10U, 10 players; 12U, 14 players and 14U, 18 players

  1. Each player selected for an All-Star roster must have his/her parents complete and sign an All-Star Commitment contract before being officially placed on the All-Star roster.
  2. The players should be nominated and selected by the following criteria; positive attitude on and off the court, playing ability, teamwork skills and coach ability.
  3. Each coach may nominate up to five players from his/her regular season roster.
  4. Coaches will then vote on all nominees and the players with the majority votes will be the All-Star team.
  5. Players must receive the majority votes of the coach’s present to be placed on the All-Star team
  1. Coach Selection Procedures
  1. Coaches interested in All-Star coaching will fill out an All-Star coaching application for each age group.
  2. Coaches may apply for any All-Star coaching position that they choose. All-Star coaches do not have to be regular season coaches.
  3. The All-Star coach’s selection committee will select the various coaches from the applications that are submitted.
  4. The All-Star head coach may select his or her assistants, up to two, from the head or assistant coaches in their age group or any other age group.
  5. The All-Star committee will consist of: JacksonCountyParks and Recreation Assistant Director, one Advisory Committee member, one official, and two at large members appointed by the JacksonCountyParks and Recreation Director.
  6. Committee members may coach an All-Star team but must excuse themselves of voting on any position that they apply for.
  7. Coaches selected must sign an All-Star coach’s contract with Jackson County Parks and Recreation.
  8. If the All-Star coach declines the offer to coach the team that he/she has been selected for the committee may remove their name from consideration from All-Star coaching for one year.
  9. All coaches, head and assistants, must be NYSCA certified or other certification agent.
  10. Final decisions on All-Star coaches will rest with the JacksonCountyParks and Recreation staff.
