The Scott Sutton Scholarship fund was established in 2005 to offer financial assistance to graduating seniors of ArcanumHigh School planning to attend The Ohio State University. The scholarship honors the late Scott Sutton, husband of the Donor. The OhioStateUniversity was very important to Scott Sutton.OhioState stands for a high level of excellence in all fields of education. It provides young adults the opportunity to pursue experiences in the classroom as well as life that will guide them throughout their careers. Those experiences and the ability to claim himself as a "Buckeye" are what Scott cherished the most and paved the way for his success in life. The Scott Sutton Scholarship has been created in his memory in order to assist future graduating seniors the opportunity to attend The Ohio State University and have the same positive impactin their lives as it did for Scott. Scholarship Criteria
Be a graduating senior of ArcanumHigh School
- Be accepted and enrolled as a full-time student at The Ohio State University
Demonstrate financial need
Use of the Scholarship
The scholarship may be used for tuition and other related educational expenses.
Size of the Scholarship
Up to two $3,750 non-renewable scholarships will be available for awarding annually.
Application Process
Submit a completed application form to The Dayton Foundation accompanied by (please submit in the following order):
- A copy of the acceptance letter from The Ohio State University that includes your Student ID (University ID)
- A copy of the letter and summary page from the Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- A most recent official grade transcript including ACT and/or SAT scores.
- A recent letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, guidance counselor, principal or employer.
- Please write an essay explaining why you are seeking a college education. Your essay should be typed, double spaced, and use a 12 point font.
Selection Process
The Selection of a recipient will be made by a Scholarship Committee appointed by The Dayton Foundation.
Payment of the Scholarship
The Selection Committee will submit the name of the recommended scholarship recipient to The Dayton Foundation’s Governing Board on an annual basis. The scholarship will be paid directly to the student’s school after the student has confirmed enrollment. Payment may be made directly to the student under certain circumstances, such as reimbursement for books and supplies, and only after itemized receipts are submitted.
