Approval of ITU-T Recommendations

By TSB Circular 207 of 16 July 1999, the following draft ITU-T Recommendations were submitted for approval in accordance with procedures outlined in Resolution 1, Section 8, of the WTSC (Geneva, 1996):

– New ITU-T Recommendation G.722.1 – 7kHz audio-coding at 24 and 32 kbit/s for hands free operation in systems with low frame loss.

– New Annex J to ITU-T Recommendation G.728 – Variable bit-rate operation of LD-CELP mainly for voice-band-data applications in DCME.

– Revised Recommendation H.323 – Packet-based multimedia communications systems.

– Revised ITU-T Recommendation H.225.0 – Call signalling protocols and media stream packetization for packet-based multimedia communication systems.

Nine (9) Member States participating in the last meeting of Study Group 16 approved the text of these ITU-T Recommendations during the Plenary sessions held on 30 September 1999 and the conditions governing the approval of these ITU-T Recommendations were met.

ITU-T Recommendations G.722.1, Annex J to ITU-T Recommendation G.728, H.323 and H.225.0 are therefore approved.

Coast Station Identification Numbers

In accordance with Nos. S19.92 and S19.94 of the Radio Regulations, the coast station identification numbers 1280–1289 have been allocated to Tunisia.

Maritime Identification Digits (MID)

In accordance with No. S19.34 of the Radio Regulations, the Maritime Identification Digit (MID) “436” has been allocated to Kazakstan.

Maritime Mobile Service

Norway

Communication of 25.X.1999:

Telenor Nett AS announces that the remote sites VIGRA (MF) and GRISVAGOY (VHF) of ORLANDET RADIO will close down on 1st December 1999.

The GMDSS watch-keeping for A1 and A2 areas will be kept by the adjacent sites of the station.

Assignment of Signalling Area/Network Codes (SANC)(ITU-T Recommendation Q.708)

Communication of 14.X.1999:

Summer Time in Brazil for the period 1999–2000

EMBRATEL, Rio de Janeiro, announces that, for the period 1999–2000, “Summer Time” in Brazil is to be implemented from 2 October 1999 to 27 February 2000 at 1200 hours (Brazil time).

Clocks are to be put forward one hour in relation to legal time in the following Brazilian states:

Iceland

Communication of 13.X.1999:

New service hours

Iceland Telecom, Reykjavík, announces a change in the operating hours of international telegraph and telex services in Iceland, effective as from 19 November 1999. The new service hours will be from 0800 hours UTC to 2200 hours UTC throughout the year. During the remaining period (from 2200 hours UTC to 0800 hours UTC the following day), incoming telegrams will be stored in the system and processed after 0800 hours UTC. Iceland Telecom regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thanks administrations/ROAs for their cooperation.
