itSMF Chicago\Milwaukee Local Interest Group Nomination Form

The itSMF Chicago\Milwaukee Local Interest Group is calling for nominations to serve on its Board of Directors.

This board is composed of volunteers comprised of practitioners or vendor practitioners. This is a working board and time commitment is estimated to be approximately 5 hours per month. The term of service will be for 2 years. Meetings are held the last Thursday of the month, every other month. The Board is comprised of a President, Secretary, Membership Chair and Director of Activities. Presidents are expected to act as lead at all meetings and coordinate meetings with the help of the other board members. Secretaries are expected to attend all meetings, take meeting minutes and present the previous minutes at the beginning of the meetings. The Membership Chair is responsible for soliciting new membership, maintaining a database of current membership and composing and distributing meeting announcements via email to the local interest group members. The Director of Activities responsibilities include planning and organizing LIG events, which consists of finding venues to hold meetings and speakers for the meetings. There is no compensation for service on the Board.

Board members are elected by the general local interest group membership. You may nominate yourself or another member. All information needs to be received on or before September 20, 2004 to be considered in the nomination process.

itSMF USA OBJECTIVES

The purpose and objectives for which itSMF USA is organized are:

1.  To promote awareness about best practice for information technology service management (ITSM) to its members and the industry.

2.  To provide a forum for members to address technical and business issues so that they may enhance their benefits of ITSM.

3.  To provide end users, practitioners, and vendors of IT products and services a forum in which to exchange ideas and share experience so they can better manage their IT services utilizing the best practice guidelines as embodied in ITIL®.

4.  To acquire, catalog, preserve and disseminate timely and valuable information that pertains to ITSM and related industry trends.

5.  To cooperate with the OGC, the itSMF International community, including other itSMF national chapters and other associations for the common endeavor to advance ITSM best practice and promote liaison with other professional, governmental and business groups.

6.  To foster the advancement of ITSM Best Practice by establishing and supporting Local Interest Groups (LIGs).

7.  To encourage professionalism in the ITSM community.

* Definitions/Clarifications:

User/Customer: Organization which does not sell &/or market products &/or services to other members of itSMF USA &/or the IT industry.

Vendor: Organization which sells &/or markets products &/or services to other members of itSMF USA &/or the IT industry (including, but not limited to, products &/services pertaining to ITIL® and ITSM best practice).

User/Customer Practitioner: Employee of a User/Customer organization who utilizes ITSM best practice within his/her day-to-day job.

Vendor Practitioner: Employee of a Vendor organization who utilizes ITSM best practice within his/her day to day job.

Vendor Non-Practitioner: Employee of a Vendor organization who does not utilizes ITSM best practice within his/her day to day job, but whose primary job is sales &/or marketing of the vendor’s products &/or services.
