The Trans Access Project:

Get TRAINED and Get Involved!

The Trans Access Project at The 519 is looking for 5 trans people to join a job-readiness program to help prepare them for work in community services. Don’t have the skills? Don’t worry, we’ll work with you!

We are particularly looking for trans people who have had challenges finding employment and housing. The program cannot guarantee future jobs but can provide skills and experience to use when applying for jobs. The program runs Mondays from 10 am – 4:30 pm as well as Tuesday morning from 10am – 2pm between November 30th 2009 Tuesday January 26 2010. Participants must be at every session and will be paid an honorarium after completing the program. If you successfully complete the program, you will then have the opportunity to be paid to conduct trans awareness workshops as part of the team.

The Trans Access Project is a team of trans women and trans men operating out of The 519 Community Centre. Since 2001 this team has been developing and providing training for the staff of Toronto services to ensure access for trans people in need of shelter, addictions services, counselling, community health care, and refugee settlement services.
