DOCK TRIALS AND SEA TRIALS

1.0ABSTRACT:

1.1The ship requires a dock and sea trial to test the propulsion plant and auxiliary systems prior to completion of the performance period.

5.0NOTES:

5.1The Contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must consult the General Technical Requirements (GTR) to determine applicability to this work item. In performance of this work item, the contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, must comply with the requirements of all applicable GTRs.

5.2The contractor and all subcontractors, regardless of tier, are advised to review other work items under this contract to determine their effect on the work required under this work item. Many of the definitions relating to performance of this work are found in Work Item 001.

5.3The ACCU checkoff list is available on the vessel.

6.0QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREMENTS:

6.1The dock and sea trails are to be dedicated to the operational testing of all equipment and machinery which were repaired or upgraded andany new equipment or machinery which were installed to replace existing equipment and machinery to demonstrate all repairs and installations meet or exceed the applicable ABS Rules for Steel Vessels and the applicable 46 CFR subchapter F Marine Engineering Regulations.

7.0STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIRED:

7.1A Dock Trial shall be held not later than the 3nd to the 6thday prior to the end of the performance period. The contractor shall schedule all work on propulsion plant machinery/ systems to meet operational needs of the Dock Trials.

7.2The contractor's Ship Superintendent must attend the dock trial to expedite reporting/clearing of discrepancies which might be noted.

7.2.1A sea trial shall be conducted for the purpose of operational tests and final acceptance of work, two (2) days prior to the completion of the performance period. Contractor to schedule all work on vessel main propulsion and auxiliary systems to meet operational needs of sea trials.

7.2.2Time that may be required to conduct necessary final operational test of machinery and equipment as specified, shall determine the duration of this sea trial. Use an estimate of twelve to twenty-four (12-24) hours in duration in open sea.

7.2.3Contractor personnel required to attend the sea trial (12-24 hours) to conduct final machinery tests and adjustments shall be as follows:

7.2.3.1Two (2) machinists

7.2.3.2Two (2) pipefitters

7.2.3.3One (1) foreman electrician and one (1) electrician

7.2.3.4Two (2) hydraulic technicians

7.2.3.5One (1) Infrared Imaging Technician

7.2.4Cost of any additional personnel required by the Contractor, including subcontractors shall be borne by the Contractor. Any additional personnel required by USMMI shall be on a reimbursable basis.

7.3The USMMI provided Wartsila and Konsberg Field engineersare to attend the ship for the duration of the dock and sea trial, five (5) working days (eight (8) hours/day minimum) to perform the following:

7.3.1 KPOS-11 Dynamic Positioning System

7.3.2Propulsion Thruster Operation and Controls

7.3.2Adjustments and inspection of thruster controls system components for the

Controls & the for Alarms/Monitoring

7.3.3Verification of system operation

7.3.4ACCU (PSTP) checkoff document

7.3.5Dock trial & sea trials for duration

7.4USMMI to provide a General Electric Service Engineer to attend the ship for five (5) working days (eight (8) hours/day minimum) to perform the following:

7.4.1Power generation system adjustment and grooming

7.4.2Drive system adjustment and grooming

7.4.3Drive system light off

7.4.4Complete all applicable checks on the ACCU (PSTP) checkoff document applicable to the switchboards and demonstrate readiness of the system to operate in unattended engineroom status (ACCU).

7.4.5Dock trial & sea trial for the duration

7.5The Contractor is to provide an EMD senior field mechanic to attend the ship for five (5) working days (eight (8) hours/day minimum) to perform the following:

7.5.1Main diesel engine adjustments and grooming

7.5.2Complete all checks on the ACCU check off list for the main engines

7.5.3Dock trial & seal trials for the duration

7.6The Contractor is to provide a Woodward field technician to attend the ship for three (3) working days (eight (8) hours/day minimum) to perform the following:

7.5.1Main diesel engine governor adjustments and grooming

7.5.2Dock trial & sea trials each (8 hours minimum)

7.9 Inspection/Test:

7.9.1A sea trial shall be conducted for the purpose of operational tests and final acceptance of work, three (3) days prior to the end of the repair period, as mutually acceptable to USMMI and the Contractor. A dock trial shall be held from the 3th day to the 5th day and just prior to the sea trial. Contractor to schedule all work on vessel plant systems to meet operational needs of dock and sea trials.

7.9.2Time that may be required to conduct necessary final operational test of machinery and equipment as specified, shall determine the duration of this sea trial. Use an estimate of eight (12-24 hours) duration in open sea.

7.9.3Contractor personnel required to attend the sea trial (12-24 hours) to conduct final machinery tests and adjustments shall be as follows:

7.9.3.1Two (2) machinists, two (2) pipefitters.

7.9.3.2Two (2) electricians, two (2) hydraulic technicians & One (1) Thermal Image technician

7.9.4Cost of any additional personnel required by the Contractor, including subcontractors, shall be borne by the Contractor. Any additional personnel required by USMMI shall be on a reimbursable basis.

8.0GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

8.1The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials and tools to accomplish this specification item.

8.2The Contractor shall remove and reinstall interferences necessary to accomplish this specification item.

8.3Inspection and acceptance of all work shall be by the designated USMMI Representative.
