Present: L. Beresford, J. Taylor, G. Fredericks, M. Sloan, J. Ratliff, L. Cool, A. Lindsay, P. Norris, T. Coburn, J. Holmes, T. Hutchins

  1. Minutes of 10/31/03 meeting were approved with change of “CAAP” to “CAPP”.
  1. Updates – T. Hutchins reported.
  1. SCT Banner – SCT was bought out by Sungard; Banner product is still called Banner.
Banner upgrade during holidays was successful.
Web CAPP has been available to staff for a while; it will be available to students sometime next week – will allow them to view remaining requirements in their current program and also look at “what if” scenarios in other programs.
A Banner recruitment module is in progress.
  2. Web – New design for developed by Blue Granite working with the KVCC web committee over the past 3-4 months, was recently unveiled. The focus of the new site is on prospective students and the community, not current students/employees, so organization has changed from the old site.
  3. Portal – no update.
  4. Educator – G. Fredericks reported. A faculty group voted in the fall to have Educator replace Blackboard. Last day for Blackboard is June 25. Blackboard courses need to be migrated to Educator – Gail will notify instructors. J. Taylor emphasized need to be sure all Blackboard users are contacted. Blackboard’s converter to automatically migrate courses to Educator doesn’t work smoothly, so manual work is required. KVCC will host an MCCVLC program on Blackboard and Educator; Educator CEO will attend.
  5. VBrick – T. Coburn provided a sporty demo. The system provides a satellite downlink feed to any computer on the network (previously satellite downlink was only available in certain rooms). VBrick became available through the Stryker Theater renovation project. Museum has priority on VBrick use. Contact Media Services to schedule it.
  1. College Forms – T. Hutchins reported that KVCC has licenses for Adobe Acrobat and that it could be used for creating online forms. J. Taylor described difficulties using the full Acrobat to work with forms. Learning Technologies could provide a tutorial. T. Hutchins will ask Grace Williams to re-convene the College forms committee.
  1. Other -
    P. Norris – Museum is offering the Full Frame Festival of documentary films now.
    J. Taylor – What is our software virus protection status? T. Hutchins – Feb/Mar were especially active time with over 16,000 viruses being stopped. Efforts are made to keep virus detection software up to date.
    J. Taylor – Are we spamming ourselves by putting announcements in both VIP and email, with 2 copies sometimes appearing in email? T. Hutchins – announcing in both VIP and email is intentional, but will check on the duplicate emails, which are not.
    J. Taylor – GroupWise vCard isn’t including correct information. T. Hutchins will check.
    J. Taylor – How can Deans make best use of student technology fund and Perkins monies for hardware replacement and software upgrades? Is 4-year computer replacement schedule (3-year cycle for CAD and New Media machines) still feasible budget-wise? T. Hutchins works with Louise Anderson and others to coordinate funding for technology. Student technology is still well funded.
    A. Lindsay – Student printing costs are up (paper, toner) – are there plans to address? T. Hutchins – duplex printers will be installed and may save 30-50% on paper. Printer control systems have been investigated, but not significantly cost effective.
    T. Hutchins – Plante Moran auditors will be on campus soon. Expected to recommend password changes every 30 days, but we will keep the current 90 day interval. Note that one can change one’s password anytime – don’t have to wait for the system warning.
    L. Beresford – Asked about use of replaced computer equipment. T. Hutchins – Most equipment is reused - Denise Baker keeps a list of requests for such equipment. IT dept. is investigating feasibility of selling unused older equipment on eBay.
    T. Hutchins – Will send ITAC members a draft ITAC annual report to review.
