We invite you to assist the at the Ingathering in Seguin. Many workers will be neededon April 19th to handle all of the contributions from the SWT conferences, as well as those from our brothers and sisters in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, and the North American Lutheran Church, who are joining us in this combined effort.

Your support of Lutheran World Relief with donations of goods and offerings are greatly appreciated. You are a blessing to those in this world whose needs far exceed our own. We never know where disasters will strike, but we know Lutheran World Relief through various agencies throughout the world will be ready to distribute humanitarian supplies when and wherever needed.

Quilts & kits shipping fund: Through your monetary gifts, we are able to help provide the resources needed to ship quilts, soap, and kits where they are needed. Please consider contribution from your unit to Quilts & Kits Shipping Fund (formerly called Project Comfort). Make checks payable to Women of the ELCA. Place checks in an envelope with the name and address of your congregation written on the outside, and marked “Quilts & Kits Shipping Fund”. Bring to the Ingathering at Seguin.

May you find joy in serving others. If you have any questions about the Lutheran World Relief Ingathering or want to volunteer, please contact me at the phone number or email below:

PACKING INSTRUCTIONS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS—IT REALLY HELPS EASE THE WORK LOAD OF ALL THE VOLUNTEERS.

Please review these instructions carefully. A mailing label to LWR in New Windsor, Maryland (white) is included with this letter. All of these forms may be copied as needed. If you create your own mailing labels, please make sure that the label provides sufficient room for writing the contents of each box clearly. Please adhere to the following instructions:

1.SORT GOODS AND PACK LIKE ITEMS TOGETHER.

2.PACK IN STRONG BOXES—PLEASE NO BANANA BOXES. (Theytendto COLLAPSE during shipping; plus they have openings so the quilts can get soiled.) PACK ITEMS AS TIGHT AS POSSIBLE. IF A BOX IS TOO BIG FOR THE NUMBER OF ITEMS, CUT THE BOX DOWN TO SIZE AND USE PLENTY OF STRAPPING TAPE TO HOLD IT TOGETHER. THE BOXES ARE STACKED VERY TIGHTLY FOR SHIPPING AND IF THEY ARE NOT FULL, THE BOXES COLLAPSE AND THE LOAD WILL SHIFT, CAUSING THAT PART OF THE LOAD TO BE RESTACKED.

3.MAXIMUM WEIGHT PER BOX IS 30 POUNDS--lighter weight boxes are most appreciated by volunteers.

4.ADDRESS LABEL SHEET to New Windsor, MD is enclosed (duplicate as needed). After writing the following information in LARGE, BLOCK LETTERS, attach label to the outside of the box with clear packing tape.

a.WEIGHT (Round up when weighing)

b.CONTENTS OF THE BOX

c.THE NUMBER OF ITEMS IN THE BOX (except Soap which only needs the weight recorded)

d.NAME, ADDRESS, AND ZIP CODE OF YOUR CHURCH

5.REPORT FORM: Each WELCA Unit/Group must bring the completed Lutheran World Relief Report Form (enclosedyellow copy—do not use any other color for this form—discard any previous versions that you may have on hand) along with your labeled boxes to the collection site. NOTE TO CONFERENCE COLLECTION COORDINATORS: If collecting for LC-MS, LCMC, or NALC churches PLEASE NOTE their forms will be white with their denomination circled. We are doing this so that we can easily record each group’s totals.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Copy additional address and content labels as needed. Please use and complete the content labels and report forms as they have been designed to provide the information requested by the Synod, Churchwide and Lutheran World Relief offices.
