Day 1 for Year 7 & 8 – A SUCCESS!
Tuesday marked the arrival of our new Year 7 and 8 students, the first time ever that Isis High has had to welcome two year levels into our student body and I am happy to report that Day One ran smoothly and to plan.
A big thank you to our parents for getting their children along to school in their uniforms and providing the necessary school requisites ie pens, pencils, exercise books etc. The children looked great and it was a very positive way to start the school year.
The first day for Year 7 and 8 was really a day of two parts. In the morning, students undertook a number of induction activities such as being issued with their Study Planners, reading and understanding timetables and meeting Administrators, Teachers and Year Level Co-ordinators. At the beginning of period 3, regular lessons commenced. Staff felt that it was important to have students in classrooms and learning as soon as possible. It is very much a case of ‘every day counts’.

Your child should by now have shown you a copy of their Study Planner and given you some notes about Focus Days and other school events. Parents, remember that the Study Planner is a ‘two-way’ form of communication so feel free to write in it.
If in the coming days if any issues should arise for our new families the following staff might prove valuable contacts:
- Ms. Michele Kirkland - Deputy Principal (Junior Secondary)
- Mr Gary Munks - Head of Department (Junior Secondary)
- Ms Meryl McCulloch- Year 7 Year Level Co-ordinator
- Miss Danielle Ney- Year 8 Year Level Co-ordinator

Year 7 Parent Information Evening
A Year 7 Parent Information Evening will be conducted on Tuesday10 February commencing at 5:30pm and will be hosted by Year 7 teachers and other staff. The purpose of this evening is to allow the school community to meet with the Year 7 C.A.R.E. teachers (some of whom are new to our school), clarify any issues with staff and have a look at our Year 7 classrooms.
A sausage sizzle will ‘kick off’ the evening and light refreshments will be served.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to come along and meet with staff and match some faces to the names your children have been talking about.

Year 7 Commemorative Certificates
Late in 2014, the Department of Education prepared and distributed to secondary schools, certificates acknowledging the Year 7 students as the first cohort of Year 7’s to enrol at High School. Unfortunately due to the calling of the State Government election, all government facilities must enter into a period of ‘caretaker convention’. Consequently, we are unable to distribute these certificates at this point in time, until further advice is received.
