When can I register for Intersession?
It is the same as the spring semester registration; please visit the online Spring Advance Registration tablefor your eligibility.
Is there a registration deadline for Intersession?If you are a current VCU student and do not have any holds on your record, you may register until the first day of class online only.In person registration will only be available until December 23. If you are not a current student you must have your online registration access set up before December 23as the Office of Records and Registration will be closed after this date.
Can I see a list of all the Intersession courses?
Yes, search by attribute type “Intersession Course.”
How do I know if I’m registered for an Intersession course?
The dates are listed as part of the course information in the spring Schedule of Classes (usually Dec. 27–Jan. 8) and the section number will begin with a “V” to indicate it’s an Intersession course.
How many classes can I take during Intersession?
Because of the intensive learning, students are only allowed to take one class during Intersession.
Is there an overload fee for Intersession if I register for a total of 21 credit hours (18 credit hours taken during spring term dates, and 3 credit hours taken for Intersession term dates)?
No, Intersession is a flat rate; however you would need to visit the Office of Records and Registration to request an increase in your allowed maximum hours to allow registration for an Intersession course. Intersession courses are counted as part of your spring load for registration purposes.
Are there special fees for taking an Intersession course?
No, Intersession isgenerally a tuition-only program. Some school major fees may applybut it’s rare.
I attend another college in the fall and spring so how do I register for the VCU Winter Intersession?
If only attending VCU for the Winter Intersession you would register as a non-degree seeking/special/transient student.View the online Bulletins for information regarding eligibility under non-degree seeking student guidelines.
If I’m a non-degree seeking student andI have never attended VCU before, do I have to come in person for my first registration?
Yes, please bring a picture ID and the following forms for your visit before December 23:
- New Student Form
- Certification of Eligibility
- Course Request Form
- Non-Degree Seeking Student Residency Form (If you are under 24, a portion of this form must be filled out by a parent or legal guardian if you wish to apply for in-state residency)

When is the last day to drop a course for the VCU Holiday Intersession?
The last day to drop is the first day of class, December 27.You must drop online before midnight the day of your first class meeting.
When is the last day to withdraw?
You must withdraw online by Sunday, January2,before midnight.
