IS 365 – INSTALLING THE SAP GUI

Note the following before beginning the installation:

·  The following steps are designed for Windows and may vary slightly based on the version of Windows that you are running.

·  There is a MAC version of the SAP GUI. I do not use it but the MAC version does work fine.

·  Java needs to be installed on your computer before you can install the SAP GUI. The necessary Java software is likely installed on your computer.

1.  Open a web browser and go to http://worker.cob.csuchico.edu

2.  The following logon will open.

3.  You may have to Use another account if you are already on a domain. If so, click Use another account.

4.  Enter the following information (note that the password IS case sensitive):
User name = sap
Password = sapgui4me

5.  You should see the following screen:

6.  Click on (Lightweight SAP GUI 740 C1). Links named instructions and download will appear. Click download to begin installing the SAP front end for your PC or laptop. It is a large file (134 MB) so it will take a little while to download.

Note that there is an option for the MAC but I have never used it.
THE APPEARANCE OF THE FOLLOWING DIALOGS AND THE ORDER OF THOSE DIALOGS MIGHT VARY BASED ON SECURITY SETTINGS AND THE OS VERSION YOU ARE RUNNING! THEY WILL ALSO VARY BASED ON THE BROWSER AND BROWSER VERSION YOU ARE USING.

Note that several items are added to your computer.

·  The SAP Logon icon should appear on the desktop.

·  The following items are added to the Programs folder:

o  SAP Logon

The following steps are optional. When you installed SAP, you also installed a configuration file containing all of the hosts in the Chico State complex. These hosts appear in the following figure. Only follow these steps if no host names appear, or you need to use a host that is not part of the Chico State complex.

In the following set of steps, you will configure the SAP client to connect with the SAP server in Chico. Note that you need not perform these steps in the College of Business labs. In addition, instead of creating custom connections, you can just select the machine name each time that you log in.

1.  On the desktop, locate and click on the SAP Logon icon. You can also use the SAP Front End button from the Start menu. The following menu should appear:

2.  The above connections are predefined for the various machines at Chico. We will be using Oxford for most of the class. You will need to enter the system number each time that you log in to SAP.

3.  You can also create custom configurations using the following steps. Click the Connections folder, and then click the New icon on the menu bar to begin creating a new connection. The following dialog box (Create New System Entry) will appear:

4.  In the above dialog box, click the Next button to begin creating the connection.

5.  Make sure that the connection type is set to Custom Application Server. Note the information that you complete in this dialog box will vary from one semester to the next. Refer to my Web site for the current system information for the class. Click Next to display the following dialog box:

6.  In the following dialog box, select the default entries:

9.  Enter the client number. Again, the client number will vary from one semester to the next. Refer to the Web site for the client number. Enter the login and password information that was given to you.
