THE POSITION:
This is a Non-Civil Service position with Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD). The position performs professional duties as a liaison between MNPD’s Family Intervention Program and refugee/immigrant communities in Davidson County. Provides case management, advocacy, information and referrals to these communities essential to operation of a program. Coordinates with other MNPD sections/units/divisions to facilitate culturally informed operations within the department. Performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Provide community outreach to identify victims of crime.
- Provide case management to victims of crime as appropriate.
- Refer victims of crime to community services.
- Provide educational materials on victimization and community resources.
- Develop outreach and educational materials.
- Attend and coordinate community meetings; represent MNPD/VIP/FIP at community events/programs/meetings; and act as liaison with community agencies and MNPD personnel to facilitate efficient operation of the department.
- Collaborate with agencies serving crime victims to provide services in targeted communities.
- Initiate focus groups to identify barriers to communities accessing services.
- Assume case management responsibilities and log daily assignments.
- Coordinate, prepare, and maintain case records and reports; write statistical and narrative reports.
- Research problems and recommend solutions.
- May participate in development of budget estimates and justifications.
- May devise office forms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Behavioral Science such as Psychology, Social Work, Sociology,Community Organization, or a related field from an accredited college or university and some experience in social services, community outreach, or a related field with crime/trauma victims.Valid Driver License.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of human behavior and social problems.
- Knowledge of immigrants and refugees.
- Knowledge of case management principles and techniques.
- Skilled in the use of a personal computer
- Working knowledge of community resource agencies.
- Skilled in public speaking.
- Writing, speaking, and reading language(s) in addition to English is preferred.
