JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: ADVOCACY MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

To line manage all advocates, providing regular supervision and annual appraisal. Remain up to date with training and development within the field of advocacy and the statutory responsibilities of the MCA, MHA and Care Act. Hold a small case load of advocacy cases. Attend relevant meetings, support the CEO in planning and preparing future work and generally contribute to the running and organisation of the charity in line with our ethos.

Accountable to:The Management Committee of Invicta Advocacy Network

Key Tasks:

  1. To assist the Chief Executive Officerby taking responsibility for the day to day operations of the Network’s advocacy services and to supervise (formally and informally) advocacy members of the staff team.
  1. To hold a small case load of varied issues on a flexible basis to ensure the needs of the business are met and to maintain practice levels.
  1. To attend and contribute to regular management meetings.
  1. To ensure that those staff members receive written notes of each supervision; to monitor all action points and identify training needs.
  1. To work with the Business and Finance Manager to support the smooth running of the advocacy referral system, and the Solicitors’ Rota.
  1. To allocate advocacy referrals where appropriate/relevant.To prioritise the referral allocations according to the different service specifications and manage any waiting list that may be required from time to time.
  1. To regularly audit files to ensure quality and provide regular reports with action points for the CEO.
  1. To assist the Chief Executive Officer in establishing and maintaining positive interaction with service users across a range of areas.
  1. To assist the Chief Executive Officer in maintaining good working relationships with professionals in the voluntary, statutory and independent sectors. To attend meeting and events on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer.
  1. To contribute to business development by working with the CEO and Business and Finance Manager in the development of plans, the production of funding applications and the crafting of tenders.
  1. To assist the Chief Executive Officer in promoting and raising awareness of the Network’s services to appropriate organisations in the voluntary, statutory or independent sectors.
  1. To receive regular supervision, an annual appraisal, to attend staff team meetings at the office at 7/9 Hythe Street, Dartford and to carry out other duties as may be required.

Post: 28hrs per week

Salary: £28,129 pro rata to £22503.
