Schunk Gerhard Carbon Technology opens a new production hall

Obernzenn/Heuchelheim, 6July 2017 –Schunk Gerhard Carbon Technology has inaugurated a new production hall. This represents a significant expansion of the production space of this Middle Franconia-based company that specializes in the manufacture of small carbon components.

The €1.9 million investment in the new hall has increased the space available for manufacturing by 75%, from previously 1,300 to now 2,300 square meters. Explaining the reason for the investment, Andreas Gerhard, Director of Schunk Gerhard Carbon Technology says: ‘The new hall gives us room for further growth and enables us to create a modern, process-optimized production system for mass-produced items’.

Schunk Gerhard Carbon Technology is a member of the globally active Schunk Group. As a part of this technology group, Schunk Gerhard Carbon Technology produces electrical transmission components and modules for the automotive industry. The company specializes in high-precision small and micro components in carbon, created using powder-metallurgy processes. The product range includes, for example, miniature carbon brushes that are used in small electric motors in cars. Schunk Gerhard Carbon Technology has been based in Obernzenn, Middle Franconia since 1977 and employs 60 people there.

‘With this new production hall we can stay abreast of the positive developments at our site and create the conditions for additional, future-oriented automation of our production’, said Dr. Arno Roth, Chairman of Schunk Group Corporate Management, at the opening ceremony of the new hall.
