Minutes of the Business Meeting

Thursday 7th September 2017 at 7.00pm

Inverkip Primary School

Present: Eileen Virtue (Chair), Alison Clark (Secretary), David Adams, Gary Purdon, Isobel Rennie (Treasurer), Tracy Bunton (minute secretary)

In attendance: Cllr G Dorrian, Police Officers, Community Wardens, Debbie Maloney (Inverkip Community Initiative), Matthew Leitch (on behalf of Stuart McMillan MSP) and 6 members of the public

1.0 Apologies for absence: Jean Anderson, Jakki Purdon, Cllr L Rebecchi, Ronnie Cowan MP, Stuart McMillan MSP.

2.0 Welcome and Opening Remarks

Eileen introduced herself and welcomed everyone to the meeting.

3.0 Police Matters

Reported that since last meeting 14 crimes were recorded and 9 have been detected so far.

5 enquiries are ongoing.

There were a total of 107 calls over this period. 3 priority 1 calls: one domestic incident; a cow on the road; a male on the road. Other calls included a report of a group of young people congregating at Wemyss Bay Shops however the owner of a shop did not have any concerns although knows to call 101 or the wardens.

4.0 Community Wardens

Community wardens reported that in the preceding month they had 9 calls: 4 public nuisance; 3 alcohol misuse; 2 vandalism/ environmental damage. They performed 3 community engagement calls, and 87 building checks were carried out.

5.0 Minutes of Business Meeting held on Thursday 1st June 2017

5.1 Bin Located at Inverkip Beach – the bin being used although it is not known who located it there or if there are plans to empty it

5.2 Path between Jacobs Ladder bridge and Finnockbog Road – vegetation has been cleared although the path is still very slippery. Cllr Dorrian informed that there are plans to return to treat.

5.3 Website admin. quote – Alison proposed the quote provided by John Virtue to maintain the website for £120 pa, paid in advance be accepted. Eileen declared an interest and excused herself from the vote. The proposal was carried with 5 votes.

6.0 Secretary’s report

6.1 Alison referred to Inverclyde Council committee reports making them available to those present and reminded all that reports can be found on Inverclyde Council’s website:

Matters of interest included: various upcoming council sub-committee meetings.

Email received from Stuart McMillan MSP’s office asking for representatives to attend the follow-up meeting Stuart held regarding issues at Inverkip Beach. Attendance discussed and agreed.

7.0 Planning Matters

7.1 Alison summarised applications – 11 domestic applications approved in Inverkip and 11 in Wemyss Bay; 1 application in Inverkip to be decided.

7.2 Wemyss Bay application is made to locate a telephone base station at the junction of the A78 and Ardgowan Road

7.3 Inverkip Cemetery Proposed Extension – Cllr Dorrian informed that IC are currently seeking addition space and are actively pursuing the purchase of land

8.0 Roads, Pavements and Lighting

8.1 Road resurfacing – Inverkip Recycling Bin area – a resident commented on the poor standard of repair

8.2 Wemyss Bay - overgrown garden (private home) – David to contact Cllr Dorrian with a note of the address

9.0 Treasurers Report

9.1 Isobel provided a report current balance: £3406.78. The admin grant for 2017-18 amounting to £1288.79 was credited to the account on 8th August 2017. 2 cheques for £250 presented to Inverkip Community Initiative and Wemyss Bay Community Centre towards their fundraising efforts to purchase defibrillators have been presented.

10.0 AOCB

10.1 Early Years Education provision – David commented that additional provision to be in place by 2020 may put pressure on current provision.

10.2 Web Hosting – recently purchased however the provider may be reconsidered in the future

10.3 Football Pitch Crawl Spaces – in response to David’s request for a crawl space at Wemyss bay Primary Cllr Dorrian informed that crawl spaces are being trailed at Inverclyde Academy and may inform future provision at other schools
