Meeting start @ 7:04 pm

Introductions around the room

Mr. CovoneUpdate

Thank you to H&S and families for all of your support including the teacher appreciation luncheon. Teachers and staff greatly appreciated it! Reminder this week is American Education Week. Parents are welcome to come on Thursday to check out the kids. Parent conferences were last week. If the timing didn’t work for any parents, feel free to contact the teacher to have those conversations. The first trimester is coming to a close on Dec 2nd and grades to be entered by Dec. 15th. Progress reports will be sent home with students on Dec 21st. Be on the lookout!

President Report (Della)

Book of thank you’s passed around the room

4 mini-grants approved so far. 2 for Mrs. Shotwell for a rug and alternative seating. 1 for Mrs. Hopf and 1 for the 4th grade pumpkin patch.

Della attended president’s meeting-school district will now charge for using the kitchen (even just the sink) @ $32/hour. Will need to be careful about having wipes for wiping tables and what events will need to utilize the kitchen.

Question: Where is money going to?

Answer: to school district

Comment: Will need to make sure using correct cleaners as some can’t be used in the classroom anymore. There are designated cleaning wipes to be used.

Comment: Will need to ask teachers for clarification as some non-designated cleaning wipes have been requested and are used in classrooms (i.e. Clorox)

Another discussion topic at president’s meeting was use and implementation of pro books. General feeling that it’s going well, easy to use and implement.

Social VP (Fiona)

Review of social events

Trunk or treat-huge thank you to Michelle and team. Great success!

Mother-son night-another great night. Thank you to Amy Agriss for organizing! New this year-group pictures taken. A lot of suggestions to do it with dads and daughters too. Discussion on possibility in the future. Walton Farm and Oak Park have family dance instead of father/daughter dance. Will be explored more in the future. Need to look into capacity.

Bingo-coming up after holidays

Fundraising VP (Danielle)

Winter Celebration coming up. New activity will be Toy Land where families can donate gently used toys and books to school and they will be cleaned up, priced and sold at winter celebration to raise money. Will also have frosty, santa, holiday shoppe, gingerbread making, crafts and food (hot dogs, chips, drinks, hot chocolate). Will give out raffle tickets for door prizes. Every classroom will get a box for donations and teachers can hand out extra raffle tickets when things are donated. Flyer to be sent out before thanksgiving break.

Holiday Shoppe-Dec 7-9. Kids will go with classrooms and will also be at winter celebration. Need sign-up genius setup. Will need a lot of volunteers.

Chick-fil-a event-this whole week at location on 309 (not in mall).

Inline 309 event on Friday night, 11/18.

Secretary(April)

Motions for Fiona Grosso to be VP of Social and Sarah Keller to be co-Treasurer both approved.

Treasurer (Kimberley and Sarah)

Kimberley handed out print outs of operating costs. A highlight: membership dues came in low at $1260 this year compared to $1800 last year.

Balance of accounts $44866 + teachers account balance $9631

New money handling policy going well. Feedback is that it’s much easier than the previous procedure. Kimberley can work on a case-by-case basis for any variations.

Thank you to all of the chairs–see treasurer report

We have a surplus of money-will send out a survey to ask what we should send the money on. We are pushing teachers to use mini-grants. Mr. Covone has a potential request to fund google expedition-virtual field trips to anywhere. A class set of 30 is $10K. Wants to explore more on how we could use it. We can also do more in the library since the desktops are no longer taking up space. Also look into maker space for problem solving.

Also looking into field trips, to even out the amount spent per child (varies from $7 to $25 per child).

Question: Is there any update on the sports club?

Answer: Waiting on Mr. Crayder to respond on his schedule. Danielle to follow-up.

Question: Can we use the H&S money to pay someone else to do it with him?

Answer: Definitely a possibility. Will investigate further.

Question: Oak Park posts a lot of stuff on facebook and they have a buddy bench.

Answer: We have a 4th grader who really wants to get it for our school. Each of the student’s friends will write a persuasive essay to present at January meeting.

Question: We just had a tree removed. Can we can plant a new one next to the buddy bench?

Answer: Yes

Drawing raffle winner-Jessica de la Hoz. Congrats!!

Meeting ended at 7:50pm
