VEVALUATION ITEMS
Current event analysis: 10%
Quiz 1:10%
Quiz 2:10%
Exam 1:35%
Exam 2: 35%
1Current event analysis: 10%
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this analysis is to apply what you have learned to current events related to international business.
1.2 Content
Based on recent articles in the media, select three current events that relate to the topics of the course. For each event, write two paragraphs in which you describe the event in your own words and how it relates to the course topics. Thus, the total length of your current event analysis should be six paragraphs. At the end of your analysis, include references to all sources that you used.
1.3Evaluation criteria
I will evaluate your posts based on the following criteria:
a)Have you done additional research and included source(s) of your information?
b)Have you related your posts with the course topics?
c)Are your posts sufficiently long?
d)What is the quality of your writing and arguments?
1.4 Submission
You will submit your analysis on Blackboard. Go to: “Course Documents” -> “Submit your Current Event analysis here” and follow the instructions.
1.5. Deadline
As indicated in the course schedule on page 1 of the syllabus.
2Quiz 1: 10%, Quiz 2: 10%
2.1 Content
The quizzes cover the following chapters from the textbook:
Quiz1 will cover Chapters 1-3
Quiz 2 will cover Chapters 8-10
All questions are from the textbook. Each quiz has 25 questions. Each question carries 1 point. The questions are either true-false questions or multiple choice questions. You will have 30 minutes to complete the quiz.
You may use your book and notes; however, you are to take the test by yourself, with no group efforts or help from other people.
2.2 Availability
You will be taking your quizzes online for two main reasons: 1) Many evening students have multiple commitments (e.g. work). Taking the quizzes online allows you to find a time, within a 48 hour period, that is best for you. 2) Our class time is limited. We will only meet 14 times. For the best learning outcomes, I want to dedicate all our class sessions to reviewing the course material and helping you prepare for the quizzes (quiz review).
You will find the quizzes in Blackboard under “Quizzes and Exams”. A quiz is available for 48 hours. You can take each quiz only ONE time. See course schedule on page 1 for the period during which the quizzes are available. There will be no additional test taking opportunities.
2.3 Technical issues
If you lose your internet connection or Blackboard goes down try to get back to the test when the connection resumes. Contact the instructor if the problem persists. If you are taking the test after 5 PM, please be aware that I will not be able to reply to your e-mail and solve the problem until the next morning.
It is your responsibility to assure that you have access to a computer AND a reliable internet connection when taking the test. UNCG has several computer labs that you may use.
