Introducing the Power of 2 Web site

The Power of 2 Web site is an interactive resource designed to help teachers successfully include children with special needs into the general education classroom. Professionals are able to share effective strategies, complete learning modules, and have access to useful training and teaching materials. Collaboration, co-teaching, program development, and effective teaching are just a few of the topics addressed on the Power of 2 site.

The Power of 2 web site is supported by the U.S. Department of

Education, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). The principal investigator of the project is Dr. Suzanne Robinson from the University of Kansas Department of Special Education. The project staff are all University of Kansas graduates and are now special educators in the area. Technical support and programming on the site is provided by Altech at the University of Kansas.

With the ever-growing number of responsibilities that educators face, staff development is becoming more and more challenging everyday. The purpose of the Power of 2 web site is to assist educators in providing or participating in on-site, personalized training. Site trainers can customize a program to fit the needs of individual staff members and monitor their progress with an online portfolio. This method of delivery allows the trainee more flexibility and also allows for more meaningful instruction.

The Power of 2 site is also a very effective tool for the post-secondary education classroom. Professors have found the materials to be relevant and easy to incorporate into the existing coursework on collaboration and inclusion.
