Internships with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) are a great opportunity for hard-working individuals to gain political experience, develop a fuller understanding of the political process, and help make a difference in Wisconsin government. An internship with the DPW will help you learn the essentials of Democratic politics while working to elect progressive leaders to all levels of government.
Internships are available in a variety of departments, allowing each intern to focus on specific areas within the Party. The DPW is looking for responsible, hard-working individuals to produce high-level work in each of these focus areas. Internships also offer great networking opportunities and frequently catapult qualified individuals into jobs in politics.

Internship Qualifications:
Qualified interns should…
- Be interested in politics and identify as a Democrat
- Be dependable, detail-oriented and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Be available to work at least 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday, in the Madison office at 15 N Pinckney St, Suite 200
- Able to commit a minimum of 3 months to the internshipprogram

Internship Focus Area Descriptions
Communications& Research
CommunicationInterns will work with the Communications team tomonitor press, social media, andblogs and update press listsas necessary. They will also assist with press clips, talking points, press releases, and writing projects. Knowledge and/orexperience in journalism, as well as traditionaland social media ispreferable.
Data& Analytics
Data Analytics Interns willassist our Dataand Analytics Director with user support, data entry tasks,and softwaretroubleshooting. They will also become familiar with importantcampaign software programs, andlearn about how analyzing data helps shape our field strategy. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excelis preferred.
Finance & Fundraising
Fundraising Internswill be responsible for assisting the Fundraising & Finance team withnumerous tasksincluding: donor research and prospecting, staffing andhelping to organize fundraisingevents, and assisting with donor outreach. Internswill get learn about various fundraisingmethods, cultivatingdonor relationships, and using campaign financesoftware.
Membership& Party Building
Membership Internswill interact with DPW members and Party leaders on a variety of issues.They will also help engage members through mailings, phone calls, and writing projects. Membership Interns willlearn to use NGP, a common political database. They will also get the opportunity to work on projects relatingto the annual state convention.
Operations & Compliance
Operations Internswill work directly with the Operations & Compliance Director to trackcontributions, monitorexpenses, and ensure the Party is working withinWisconsin and federal financelaws and regulations. Interns workextensively with various databases to trackexpenses and receipts. Internsmust be detail oriented. Experience in accounting or finance ispreferred.
Political& Field
Political Internswill assist the DPW Political Director who works closely with candidates, and elected officials, and activists. Political Internswill help with a number of projects involving writing, editing, scheduling, building for events, and interacting with Party activists. Some previous political experience and knowledge of Wisconsin elected is officials preferred.
State Senate &Assembly Caucuses
The State Senate Democratic Committee and the Assembly DemocraticCampaignCommittee are seeking interns to helptake back the state legislature. Interns will assist with a variety of tasks including: fundraising, research/writing projects, event planning/staffing, phone calls, data entry, and working with activists.
