Internet Based Email Application- Quick Reference Guide

Outlook Web App

  1. Launch the WebMail Shortcut or open Internet Explorer and go to
  1. If you are on-campus, Outlook Web App will automatically display the e-mail for the computer’s current user.

  1. If you are off-campus, you will be shown the screen to the right. You will need to fill in the “Username” and “Password” field in the domain\username format:

Main Page

Most tasks can be performed from the main page of the Outlook WebApp, without the need to open messages in a new window.

When “Inbox” is selected from the left-hand pane, available messages are shown in the middle pane. Messages here can be deleted, searched, or filtered.

Messages selected in the middle pane are displayed in the “QuickView” area, with reply and forward options available just above the message.

For longer e-mails, it may be more convenient to double-click the message to open it in a new window.

Composing a New Message / Replying to a Message

1.To compose a new message, click “New”.

  1. Note: To reply to a message, click “Reply” while viewing that message. The “To…” field will automatically be filled.

2.To add a recipient’s address to a message, type their e-mail address into the appropriate “To…” or “Cc…” field.

  1. If you are unsure of someone’s address, click the “TO…” or “CC…” buttons and it will open up the address book search window
  2. Entera name in the search field and click the magnifying glass
  3. Double click the name or group to add it to the To.. field
  4. Single click the name and click the CC… button to add it to the CC.. field
  5. Click OK ….(Continue on other side)

3.Include a subject in youre-mail.

5.The spell check button is at the top of the window

6.Click Send

Setting System Options(short version)

Click the “Options” button from the main screen. A new screen will appear.

1.Click the “Settings” link on the left (if you make changes click Save on the bottom right corner)

  1. Mail Tab
  2. Creating a Signature- A signature can be created and inserted at the end of messages.
  3. Check the box to “Automatically include my signature on messages I send”
  4. Spelling Tab
  5. Always check spelling before sending?
  6. Calendar
  7. Setup default calendar settings

2.Click the “Account” link on the left

  1. Tell people you’re on vacation (Out of office)
  2. Can be set for a specific date range

Click “My Mail” (top right) to return to the Main Screen

Forwarding old emails from Novell Groupwise

  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to
  2. Login using your normal username and password
  3. Find the email you would like to forward
  4. Double-Click the email (new window will open)
  5. Click the forward button
  6. Address the email to yourself ()
  7. Click Send
  8. In a few moments the email should arrive in the new email system
