POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: / CUSTODIAN
PRIMARY LOCATION: / DEKALB CAMPUS
DESCRIPTION: / Under general supervision, maintains proper care of a technical college facilities. Perform routine, standardized housekeeping services within assigned building or area.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: / 1.  Maintains proper care of a technical college facilities.
2.  Provides care and routine maintenance of grounds. Clears storm drains and traps of debris.
3.  Delivers and picks up mail.
4.  Serves as lead custodian. May supervise custodial activities.
5.  Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
6.  Provides housekeeping services within assigned area which normally include emptying of trash receptacles; dusting; spot cleaning; cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, medical and food service are; restocking supplies, dust, damp or wet mopping; sweeping and vacuuming.
7.  Operates and maintains power equipment which may include carpet vacuums, canister and tank vacuums, wide-area vacuums, backpack vacuums, spot cleaning machines and other powered equipment.
8.  Maintains housekeeping/storage closets, tools and equipment in a clean, orderly condition.
9.  Utilizes prescribed safety equipment as required.
10.  Utilizes chemicals and supplies in a safe and prescribed manner.
11.  Responds to work request from building occupants and the department's service request system.
12.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: / High School Diploma or GED. Any combination of training and experience which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.

PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS: / (In addition to the minimum qualifications) A minimum of six months experience performing custodial duties.

salary/benefits: / The salary range for this position is $23,000.00 to $25,000.00 and is determined by education, experience and other qualifications. This is a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
