Somerset Public Health District Coordinator: 40hour, grant-funded position with benefits – Somerset Public Health is seeking a public health professional interested in working across public health sectors to improve the public’s health in Kennebec and Somerset counties. TheDistrict Coordinator for the Central District Coordinating Council forPublic Health (DCC). will work with organizations in Kennebec and Somerset County to coordinate the implementation of the Central District Public Health Improvement Plan. The District Coordinatormust have the ability to work with limited direct supervision. This position will be required to keep detailed records for reporting and evaluation. The Coordinatorwill work independently, be well-organized, and possess a strong attention to detail. The position is co-located in Augusta, Waterville, and Skowhegan. Travel is required throughout Kennebec and Somerset Counties and occasionally to statewide trainings.

The District Coordinator must be able to:

Facilitate the Central District DCC meetings and its subcommittees.

Revise and aid in implementing theDistrict communications plan with the goal of creating a strong brand for Public Health Districts while strengthening the relationships and membership of the DCC.

Work with the DCC to develop and implement the District Public Health Improvement Plan

Work with DCC members to coordinate activities across service areas

Coordinate with Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention on district assessment, planning, and implementation needs.

Monitor process of implementing the District Public Health Improvement Plan.

Develop DCC operations guidance for decision making, conflict of interest and other guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration or Policy/Planning, Organizational & Business Management or closely related field and 3 years related work experience required. Masters preferred.
Experience with using the Strategic Prevention Framework
Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Valid Maine driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in the community and across multiple age groups
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
