How you will learn it:

Instruction: With a partner, you will disassemble and reassemble a computer.

Peer Instruction: You must find another student who has completed this standard to familiarize you with the assignment and basic components.

Assignment:

Begin by: Getting a partner who is also ready to do this assignment. (ask the teacher if you can’t find a partner)

Then: Both partners print the “Motherboard Diagram” by going to this link and printing. M/B Diagram link. Also print the 3 pages of task cards below. (File, Print, Pages, 2-4) **Print only pages 2-4

Next: Take your partner to the teacher and let them know that you are ready for the hardware final assignment.

Next: Completely label the motherboard diagram assignment first. Review the CompaqTechnicalManual and the CompaqUtilityGuide to find specifications for the motherboard and other components.

Then: Complete the task card pages. Most items you’ll find as you investigate labels and parts, but, some items you’ll have to turn on the computer to find. (Hint: Right click on “My Computer” and go to properties. Look here and the device manager for starters) Put question marks on any item you couldn’t find (there may be 3 or 4 of them) and ask the teacher for help on these items all at once.
