Job brief

We are looking for an experiencedChief Operating Officer (COO) - you will have oversight of the diverse business operations of LLG,so weexpect you to bean experienced and efficient leader.

Overseeing the daily operations of LLG and the work of LLG Enterprise Ltd executives, theobjective of the COO is to secure the functionality of LLG’s business and to drive LLG’s extensive day-to-day operations.You will also be required to design and implement business strategies, plans, proceduresand establish policies which promote LLG culture and vision.

The brief also includes assisting the Board to set LLG’s strategy following an internal governance review of its internal decision-making mechanisms.

You will be responsible for the efficiency of LLG’s business including, where necessary, improvement to its management procedures.

You will need experience of creating successful business operating models as you will be required to provide support to LLG’s commercial delivery arm.

You will need to be outward facing as occasionally you will need to represent LLG at public forums,events and meetings. You will need to manage relationships with corporate partners, LLG Stakeholders and assist the Board and its subsidiary company in seeking sponsorship andfundraising ventures together with participating in expansion activities.

You will be LLG’s Chief Officer reporting directly to the LLG Presidentand accountable to the Board of Directors. You will write and submit reports to the Board of Directors in all matters of importance and attend Board meetings when required.

Person Specification

Skills and Knowledge required for this role

  • Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officeror a similar relevant role.
  • Experience of developing and managing budgets and an understanding of business functions such as managing resources (staff) and marketing etc.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development (horizon scanning) - experience in (or understanding of) fundraising/or working in a nationwide membership organisation would be an advantage.
  • Some experience of business change and expansion with evidence of income generation. Developing creative, workable solutions and opportunities.
  • Positive communication and creating a positive impression on others reflecting LLG’s purpose and values; exerting influence in an assertive manner; clear and effective expression of information.
  • Be a positive, dynamic, creative and supportive team member.

Length of appointment / This is an interim appointment fora fixed term of six months based on a 3-day week.
Can be either inside or outside of the IR35 tax rules
Hours / Flexible: -3 days per week – home and/or office based. (Contract term can be extended pro-rata if appointee prefers a 2 day per week pattern)
Pay / Annual salary is £60,000 pro rata based on a 3 day working week.
