Agriculture Scholarships Available

A limited number of scholarships exclusively for students of the SRC Agriculture program will be available this fall. These opportunities are provided by West Central FS, an agriculture member cooperative based in Galesburg, Ill.

These scholarships will be worth a minimum of $500 for the academic year.

Attached to this memo is the application form. Please note the minimum requirements, in addition to being a current student in agriculture classes at SRC:

• A FAFSA for this year must be filled out. If you applied for Financial Aid or a Foundation Scholarship for this fall, you’ve likely already completed this requirement.
• A high school transcript must be on file.
• The attached scholarship application must be completely filled out.
• A minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA at SRC must be held. If this is your first semester at SRC, a 2.75 cumulative high school GPA will suffice.
• An up-to-date resume must be included with the application packet.
• Applicants also must be willing to be interviewed by representatives of West Central FS.

Half of the award amount will be distributed to the recipients in the fall semester. Half will be distributed in the spring semester as long as recipient meets requirements listed in acceptance letter.

Should students need assistance with creating/honing resumes, the following SRC employees will be available at these times and locations:

• Karen Trusley, Russell LRC (Canton Campus) – Thu., Sept. 8, 2 p.m. -- 4 p.m.
• Andrea Barbknecht, SRC Canton Community Outreach Center (45 East Side Square, Suite 302, Canton) – Fri., Sept. 9, 9 a.m – 12 p.m.

All necessary requirements must be met by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23 and should be returned to the SRC Financial Aid Office. If you have questions regarding this process or would like to know what is already on file, please contact the SRC Financial Aid Office at (309) 649-7030.

and SRC Foundation Scholarships.

The preceding information I have supplied on this application form is correct. If I receive a scholarship, I understand I must adhere to all requirements for that scholarship. I am not in default on any student loan(s). I also give my permission to Spoon River College to request and obtain any related information that would be pertinent to my application and share my information with committees reviewing applications for scholarships and agree to be interviewed by a representative of West Central FS should I qualify for the scholarship. I allow SRC to publish my name and town/high school as a scholarship recipient but understand no other personal information will be published. I understand that scholarship awards will first be applied to my SRC account to cover any balance due. I also understand that some awards may be made AFTER a semester begins.
