Some T.E.F.L. Facts1.Internationally, the demand for trained and certified TEFL teachers far exceeds the supply. In most countries, you can pick and choose your jobs.
2.Teaching positions are available in private language schools, state-run schools, academic and technical universities, in-house company teaching, executive programs, and with organizations assisting immigrants and refugees.
3.Jobs are generally available anytime of the year and contracts are, in many cases, negotiable.
4.Salary is above average for the economy in which you are employed. Executive programs excepted, private language schools pay the best and are the most accessible positions to secure.
5.Average work week is 25 hours. Allow several additional hours for classroom preparation.

7.Housing is occasionally provided. Airfare is seldom provided except by a few employers in Asia and Indonesia. The most significant benefits in this field are intangible; world travel, exotic locations, fascinating people, life experiences.
8.T.E.F.L. offers a very flexible lifestyle. You can work as much or as little as you choose. You can travel extensively as short-term contracts are common.

General Admission StandardsApplicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree or the academic equivalent in the same or related field. Those who have not completed all academic work for a Bachelor's Degree must complete the unfinished work prior to being considered for admission to this Master Degree Program.
Application Procedure1.The applicant submits: a. Complete application for admission b. Resume or work description of background c. Application fee and tuition deposit d. All previous college/university transcripts
2.Students are the notified if they qualify. If accepted for enrollment appropriate academic credit may be granted for professional or occupation related accomplishments.
3.The student is assigned a faculty advisor.
4.Appropriate study materials are sent. Study begins and the student and faculty advisor establish a one-on-one academic relationship.
5.The student is expected to complete course work and assignments.
6.The submission of a proposal and an appropriate thesis is then due.
7.When all academic and administrative requirements are satisfactorily completed, the degree will be conferred.
Minimum Degree RequirementsA minimum of 30 graduate credits are required for graduation. The university will accept a maximum of 10 units in transfer. Of those 10 units, no more than 5 may be non-academic (experiential). A Master Thesis is required.

The final Proposal and ThesisThe University expects the Master's candidate to follow academic form and style in preparation of the Proposal and Thesis. Emphasis is placed on the quality of work rather than on the number of pages.
Prior to beginning work on the Thesis, the student is required to submit a Proposal to the University. Once the Proposal has been accepted, the student can proceed with the Thesis. The University recommends the use of "Form and Style", 9th edition, Campbell, Ballou, Slade (Houghton Mifflin Co. Boston, Massachusetts).
Residency RequirementsStudents are not required to attend classes, lectures or seminars on campus if they do not wish to. Enrolled students are provided assistance and direction as needed, by phone, mail, fax or E-mail. Students are welcome to visit the University and meet with their faculty advisors, administration, faculty and staff whenever they wish to.
Time RequirementsFor this kind of programs, the AmericanUniversity of Spain has an open enrollment policy. The students may begin their studies at any time.
This Master's Program may be completed in as little as two semesters, depending on dedication, however, the term of enrollment is thirty-six (36) consecutive months from the date of enrollment. The University recognizes that some students, due to personal and other commitments, may require a longer period of time to complete their studies. Upon written request, subject to approval, the enrollment term may be extended.
