Strasbourg, 9th of June. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) exist to help counter these dangers. The European Parliament today replied to the Commission's EU action plan to deal with the growing number of IPR infringements inside and outside the Union. This plan focuses on measures to tackle commercial-scale infringements and raise awareness to help people better understand the consequences of IPR infringements.

Strasbourg, 9th of June. Fake products are harmful to the economy, not only to those who have invested in the original products, but also to consumers.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) exist to help counter these dangers. The European Parliament today replied to the Commission's EU action plan to deal with the growing number of IPR infringements inside and outside the Union. This plan focuses on measures to tackle commercial-scale infringements and raise awareness to help people better understand the consequences of IPR infringements.

One of the focal points: the cultural industry. The Group of the Socialists & Democrats emphasizes the importance of the good balance between artists' protection and the need not to criminalize private consumers.
