INTEGRATED MARKETING INTERNSHIP
The John G. Riley Center/Museum is looking for a professional student to join our fast-paced team that specializes in documenting, preserving and illuminating African American History and Culture and its blended inter-relationships with Native American and European history and promoting the Riley Museum as a destination for tourism and economic development.
SKILLS DESIRED:
· Superior verbal and written communication skills
· Highly organized and detail-oriented
· Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse audiences
· Ability to work independently, take initiative and follow-through on assigned tasks
· Excellent time management skills and ability to balance competing priorities and deadlines
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) products is a must!
· Graduate students preferred.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
· Serving as the social media coordinator to engage younger generations in an appreciation of African American History and Culture (i.e. updating/monitoring Facebook Fan Page, Twitter feeds, Blog posts and keeping us aware of new/emerging media that is relevant to our target audiences).
· Maintaining earned media contacts andcirculationof all things Riley.
· Designing promotional fliers in anticipation of upcoming events, special engagements, etc. and based on direct consultation with appropriate staff
· Conducting website updates & new media integration in cooperation with Assistant Director and existing Technical Consultants
· Remaining abreast of fundraising and communications best practices
· Protecting confidential information
· Performing other related duties as assigned
· Web and editorial design experience are a bonus!
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design or other related field.
