INTEGRATED ACTION PLAN (IAP)

BRIEF NOTE

KARIMNAGAR DISTRICT.

The Government of India has been implementing Integrated Action Plan ( IAP) in 60 selected Tribal and Backward District of the country under the BRGF programme and it includes Khammam and Adilabad from AndhraPradeshState. The GoI has decided to includes 6 more districts from Andhra Pradesh additionally under IAP from the financial year 2011-12 onwards. The newly include districts are Srikakulam, Vizayanagaram, Vishakapatnam, East Godavari, Warangal and Karimnagar.

The objective is to give a fillip to development schemes in Tribal and Backward regions, mostly affected by Naxal violence. The IAP would be an additional central assistance scheme on a 100% grant basis. It is aimed at quick resolution of problems concerning the Healthcare, Drinking Water, Education and Roads.

In fact, in 2010-11 alone, each of the IAP district was given a block grant of Rs.25 crores and in 2011-12 the grant has gone up to 30 crores per district.

A committee headed by District Collector / District Magistrate and consisting of the Superintendent of Police of the District and the District Forest Officer will be responsible for implementation of this scheme. The District-Level Committee will have the flexibility to spend the amount for development schemes according to need as assessed by it.

The Committee should draw up a plan consisting of concrete proposals for public infrastructure and services such as SchoolBuildings, Anganwadi Centres, Primary Health Centres, Drinking Water Supply, Village Roads, Electric Lights in public places such as PHCs and Schools etc.

As per the instructions of the Planning Commission, Govt.of India, the District Level Committee has been constituted in Karimnagar district with the following officers.

The District Level Committee has conducted several meetings with the District Officers and field functionaries to drawup plan consisting of concrete proposals for public infrastructure and services such as SchoolBuildings, Anganwadi Centres, Primary Health Centres, Drinking Water Supply, Village Roads, Electric Lights in public places such as PHCs and Schools etc.

Accordingly the following (376) works with an estimated cost of Rs.30.00 crores have been identified and accorded administrative approval and allocated (7) Executing Agenciesfor execution of the work.
